Doe, A Deer, A Freakin Awesome Chair Posted: 14 Aug 2014 09:21 AM PDT Inspired by the Cervidae (deer) family, specifically the geometries & smooth joints of its antlers & tall, strong stance, Elka is an exploration of organic transitional geometry & multi-axis CNC machining. Balancing the simplicity of structure & complexity of the curve, Elka finds beauty in the subtle details, soft transitions & sharp lines that create contrast within its overall form. Reinforced with steel pins, Elka exploits new tech in CNC machining to create seamless joints & expose stunning topographies within the grain. Designer: Oscar Pipson - Related posts: |

Posted: 14 Aug 2014 01:11 AM PDT Besides being a design competition that recognizes some of the amazing talents from across the globe, the Red Dot Awards is also a resource pool of new ideas and innovative products. Products that inspire us and designs that we can own. Here is a quick recap of five products that caught our fancy from the 2014 Red Dot Awards: Product Design. NOIZY Kameleon is a cool earbud that features multipoint connectivity. It allows you to connect two Bluetooth devices (cell phone and laptop) at the same time to one headset. This allows switching from tablet/laptop to phone and back. What we like about it is the flexibility and convenience it offers. The SUPAflat high chair merges quality, safety and ease of use with an attractive appearance that blends seamlessly into a contemporary home environment. What we like about it is its flatpack design approach. AURA Breathalyzer is a fancy Alcohol Breath Tester that you can take along to your next night out in town. It's a sensible way of keeping in check the amount of alcohol you have consumed. What we like about is its high-end styling and design. Fiskars KitchenGarden is a Mini-Greenhouse for Herbs and is adorable fit in your home. What we like about it is its innovative approach to home gardening. The super sensible Eat'n'Out is a clever and functional 2-in-1 Lunch Bag. We love it for the practicality it offers; it holds your lunch booty and spreads out as a blanket on the floor. - Related posts: |
The Beautifully Intuitive Case Posted: 14 Aug 2014 12:01 AM PDT The man behind the design of the iPhone and super genius, Jony Ive is known to believe that – There is beauty when something works and it works intuitively. In likeness, the same can be said about The Access Case by Nodus, which is beautifully intuitive and hand crafted from luxury Italian leather. The ingenious factor in this flip/portfolio case for iPhone and iPad is the Micro-Suction technology used to secure your device. In seconds you can attach or remove your iPhone or iPad from the case, without having to bother with clumsy plastic clips or housings. The Micro Suction pads are bonded to the inside of the Access Case and will grip onto your device easily, holding it securely with thousands of tiny vacuums. Well, to be honest, bindings and clips may cause damage and add scratches to your device. Moreover if you are like us, who like to use our devices naked and keep them covered while traveling, removing and loading them back into restrictive cases can be bothersome. The Micro Suction pads are designed to grip onto any clean, smooth, non-porous surface with incredible force and do not leave any residue when removed. This aspect makes it ideal for the aluminum, glass and smooth plastic bodies of Apple products. Yes, the inner lining is crafted from a dark suede microfiber lining, making it super-soft to touch. The single leather strip on the interior serves as a convenient and secure utility pocket, allowing you to keep essentials like cash and cards Nodus is offering an amazing 20% discount on the cases, just for our readers. Put in 'YANKO20' on the checkout. Promo Code: YANKO20 The Access Case is available in high quality chestnut brown and Ebony black Italian leather. Available for: iPhone 6/5/5S/5C/4/4S • iPad 2/3/4/Air iPad mini 1/2 The iPhone 6 is rumored to be out on the 19th September. Nodus have got their hands on a sample and this is a glimpse of the Access Case for iPhone 6 which is now available for pre order. Designer: Nodus [ Buy it Here ] - Related posts: |
Posted: 14 Aug 2014 12:01 AM PDT Call it a garbage can, trashcan, whatever you want… the bottom line is, they’re generally so U.G.L.Y. that you want to put them in the garbage themselves! The Swingbin is not one of these. It’s so sculptural you might not even recognize it as a waste bin. No screws, gears or wires, its seamless form is achieved with a unique tilting motion of the balanced lid. Even its name sounds clean! Designer: Shigeichiro Takeuchi - Related posts: |
Bodacious Bourbon Barrel Boarding Posted: 14 Aug 2014 12:01 AM PDT The Bourbon Barrel Board is as simple as it sounds: a skateboard made from reclaimed bourbon barrels! The use of this upcycled material makes them not only eco-friendly but stylish, described by the designers as “skateable fashion.” In two distinct styles, Flip and Jive, you can cruise or freestyle with comfort and confidence thanks to the natural curvature that gives each an ideal center of gravity. They’re as smooth and strong as the bourbon that came before them! See em’ in action —> Jive is a cruiser board with a short nose and a gentle kick tail, made to give you optimum performance for maneuverability, safety and speed. Whether you’re commuting to work or going out for a nice ride, Jive will be your right hand man. Flip is a freestyle board designed for the cruiser and aggressive skater alike. Flip wants to be pushed to the limit! Designer: Hepcat - Related posts: |
