Imaginary porcelain animals by Duo Anya Stasenko And Slava Leontyev

The Ukrainian artist duo composed of Anya Stasenko And Slava Leontyev creates some lovely imaginary creatures in porcelain. The animals’ shapes are already a good reason to love them, but the stunning part in my opinion is the use of natural textures and matching colors. You can find more pieces on the artists’ website.

Bring Home Some Moonlight

Posted: 18 Dec 2014 04:23 AM PST

I love the creative expressions possible with the MoonLight Lamp. It is essentially an interactive wall LED lamp designed to produce endless possibilities when playing with lights, shadows and creating beautiful atmosphere. The design features three different sizes, each one of them having two sets of diodes. Simply turn the dimmer to increase or dim the front and backlight.

The team explains, "When the light shifts occur, the diffuser, which is installed inside, redirects the light towards the observer with the impression that the light is moving through the object. The dimmer cover is centered and has a distinctive round dent, calling for interaction and also showing the position on this imaginary light scale."

The Lamp can be used via a Smartphone app and customized according to whim!

In-flight Solar Phone Charger – Do Want NOW!

Posted: 18 Dec 2014 03:57 AM PST

On a flight from London to Chicago, I was very happy to note that my Business Class seat had a USB charging station. As soon as I hooked up my dying phone for some juice, the airhostess came to admonish me, saying that we were not 'allowed' to charge phones, the hook up was available only for multimedia purposes. Blah! Concepts like the Solar Eclipse are innovations that the airline industry could use. Give us charging ports people! We have Wi-Fi and Internet connections made available … so take the next step!

Link: The Last Mile Delivery Solution

Posted: 18 Dec 2014 12:00 AM PST

LINK is a synchronized logistics system that uses a city’s existing infrastructure, like public transportation resources, to distribute goods throughout the city in a seamless, sustainable way. The network connects between consolidation centers, neighborhood storage spaces and local retailers using a fleet of robotic transporters. The system enables shorter distribution distances, reducing unorganized truck movement and the related environmental impact. An excellent alternative for “last mile” distribution! Vid after the jump —>

The system connects consolidation centers located at the city outskirts with neighborhood storage spaces and local businesses. Cargo arriving at the city is first accumulated in the centers that are part of transportation depots. There, it is sorted according to neighborhoods and loaded on the transporters. Using smart technologies, the robotic vehicles navigate their way by synchronizing and following the public transportation to their destinations – the hubs. At arrival they autonomously release their full containers on to designated docks. They replace them with empty ones or with containers full of packaging waste. The transporters then return to the consolidation centers to be reloaded and sent out again. The containers in the hubs function as temporary neighborhood storages from which cargo is distributed to the local businesses. The remaining delivery distances are covered by a delivery man on foot, bicycle or other sustainable solutions.
