| Catch Snazzy Korean Designs @ 100% Design London 2013 Posted: 13 Sep 2013 06:41 AM PDT Visitors to the 100% Design London event please make due note: Korea Design is an exhibition showcasing the latest furniture, lighting and product design from South Korea. This booth is brought to you by Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) and they are hosting 15 creative geniuses from their home land! Folks at home don't worry, here is a quick peek at what to expect from these talented young-guns! Korea Design @ 100% Design London: 18 – 21 September 2013
Exhibiting under the umbrella of 601STREET, you can find quirky products including interior decorations, art books and stationery. Don't miss the Luminous/L – an ingenious design based on the idea of phosphorescence.
Expect beautifully crafted wooden furniture from artiZAC. This is a design studio founded by two architects, Chul YEO and MyeongSeog SHIN and they have used their talents quite constructively.
Beeeen offers home accessories inspired by traditional Korean crafts and motifs. The new Dancheong range of accessories will make its debut at the show.
ceramicstudio 'mee' designs and manufactures ceramic products., including lighting and crockery. The Water Drop Shade is their signature product and is a ceramic light shade.
daam-so creates furniture that reflects a dialogue between old and new – products and cultures alike. The design team will showcase their shelving unit – Rubber bands project: Sa Bang Tak Ja and Von.1 Armchair series.
ecojun company focuses on green design products and their 'original green cup' is quite commendable. Crafted from biodegradable corn plastic, the cup does not emit traces of chemicals when holding hot water, is naturally decomposed by microorganisms and does not emit harmful gases when incinerated. Love the clever indent for holding the teabag!
IN R&D CENTER is the creator of this beautiful Petrous Zipper Chair. The company focuses on holding a diverse portfolio and have dabbled with home electronics and interior products.
KooN crafts fun and functional products; for example the 2N1 is a multi-functional piece of furniture combining stool, table and storage.
If you are looking for aesthetic ideals with eco-friendly LED technology and smart control systems to improve internal spaces through light, then The Lightgreen Concept Co is who you should be getting in touch with. The new LED light B'SKIT is a highly efficient modular lighting system inspired by the design of a square biscuit.
NJ Lighting develops a wide range of eco-friendly ceramic lighting using100% natural materials. All products are made from handpicked raw materials in a protected space that excludes any type of chemical component.

Architect and designer Il HoonRoh is an architectural graduate amongst other things, his designs combine architectural language with cutting edge design manufacturing. The Rami Bench and Stool series reflect his distinctive style.
Stereotype is an award-winning collaborative design studio and has products like the Cresia DIY modular storage system.
Who can forget Studio JinhyunJeon's "Tableware as Sensorial Stimuli," an experimental research project that explores synesthetic effects as a source of design inspiration and latent sensory ability, that challenges social thought patterns around eating.
Founded by the designer Hyeeun Yang, YdesignY is a design studio that aims to bring an element of wonder in everyday objects. For example their Peaked hat Lighting Shade is inspired by the way in which our clothing changes between the seasons. Targeted specifically at acoustic guitar players, the aim was to design a guitar amp that captures the essence of acoustic playing environments. Aesthetically, the stool allows viewers of the performance to focus solely on the musician without being distracted by other clutter on stage! Check out the vid for the full experience! | Posted: 13 Sep 2013 12:01 AM PDT Old-school “water-closets” (those toilets with the reservoir mounted on the wall, suspended above the bowl) use gravity to force water into the bowl. While effective, they aren’t around much anymore because of the huge amount of space they require. The satirically-named Element Water Closet applies entirely different physics to achieve the same amount of flushing power but with less water and while occupying even smaller space than conventional bowl toilets. See how it works—> Using a built-in elastic bladder system, water from the main pipeline enters and expands the bladder with its normal pressure. A release valve prevents the water from escaping the bladder. Once the release valve is opened, the pressured water in the bladder is automatically released into the bowl. Because this water is under pressure, there is no restriction as to the placement of the bladder, making the design as compact as possible! Designer: David Hashimoto

At first glance it appears to be a simple water bucket, but turn it upside down and you’ll see a small solar panel which harnesses the sun’s energy during the day. The stored energy can then be used to power the built-in light or even gently heat the water. Peculiar… but genius! Designer: Chia-Yuan Pai

Together they form the Bo-Bi Baby Monitor System- the total package when it comes to watching little ones from a distance. i-Nipple is a pacifier that also detects temperature changes, instantly relaying information to i-Egg which notifies parents. The i-Cam works as an HD camera for monitoring and taking pictures/recording videos. Control each with the i-Egg or your mobile device, both of which have a straightforward, friendly user interface. | Distil Union’s Wally Case Review Posted: 12 Sep 2013 11:42 AM PDT We’re a big fan of Distil Union’s products and the Wally Case is no exception. Though it’s a Kickstarter project, I have no doubt they’ll reach their funding goals because this case is gorgeous. Made from premium leather attached to a thin plastic case for that shiny new iPhone 5s. The idea is to simplify your wallet. Slim that bad boy down to just three cards – your I.D., a debit card, and a public transit card. There’s enough tension to prevent your goodies from slipping out. There’s an integrated pull-tab to release the cards from their pocket. DO WANT! Designer: Distil Union, Kickstarter page $40
