Ah, Sinfully Cool Fresh Air

Posted: 13 Feb 2014 09:04 AM PST

The Window Air Purifier is an innovative design that can purify the air, keep the heat away during hot days and keep in the warmth during winters. The shutters are in sync with the control panel that dictates its swing and purification action. A neat piece of innovation!

The Tilt Effect

Posted: 13 Feb 2014 01:54 AM PST

What makes the Tilt It, the watering can stand out is its diagonal base. This kind of orientation makes it easier to pour out the water with less lifting. Essentially a lot of wrist work is required and pouring out the last of the water from a traditional flat-bottomed watering can cause a strain. Hit the jump for the details.

  • Pouring from a traditional can requires the user the lift and tilt it to ninety degrees. There is a need to lift one's arm quite high and bend the wrists considerably.
  • Tilt It, on the other hand, has a 'diagonal' base.
  • When Tilt It is held 'vertically' by its top handle, the water inside naturally flows to the lowest point of the diagonal, near the base of the spout.
  • This means that less tilting is required by the gardener in order to pour the water out. One needn't lift their arms so high.
  • When Tilt It is placed on the floor, its diagonal base causes it to tilt backwards. The top handle sits at an angle, which allows it to be grasped more comfortably.

Tilt It is a 2013 Red Dot Award: Design Concept Winner.

The Color Of Pain

Posted: 13 Feb 2014 01:34 AM PST

Paraplegic athletes who are into extreme sports like Sit-Skiing, Wheelchair Basketball and Ice Sledge Hockey and are subject to their risks. These sportspeople are often suffering from reduced or total loss of pain sense and don't even realize that they are bruised or injured. The Bruise is a smart injury detection suit for Paraplegic Athletes.

Injuries that are left untreated for this segment can develop into a performance-hindering or even life-threatening condition.

How it works:

  • The Bruise uses a recyclable pressure-sensitive film to indicate the severity of injuries.
  • It is made of sweat-wicking stretch fabric for a comfortable supportive fit.
  • Mesh inserts and ergonomic seams offer breathability and freedom for movement.
  • High-risk areas are covered with disposable made-to-fit film inserts.
  • If an area is excessively stressed during an accident, the film will irreversibly change color.
  • After training or competing, injured areas can be easily spotted and dealt with.

Starry Starry Night

Posted: 13 Feb 2014 12:01 AM PST

The designer describes the Bang and Olufsen's A9 Wireless Speaker Concept as the "binary transitional relationship in musical experience". In lay terms it just means a new way of relaxing with music. The speakers need not be imposing design disasters, but an object that is sublime and adds a third dimension to its creativity. The transition of opaqueness to transparency is achieved by using gradient printed polycarbonate legs. It certainly looks dashing!
