Hyperactivity Yacht

Posted: 08 Nov 2013 10:53 AM PST

A glass jacuzzi, starlight observation lounge, folding balconies, theater, submarine landing, two garages, spa, sauna, salon, a discotheque and even a hot air balloon departure/landing station . Just a few of the absolutely necessary features on the Anaconda explorer super-yacht! Owners can let their ADHD run wild with so many things to choose from!

The sleek lines and pure shapes of the Anaconda’s exterior give it an individual and masculine character. The architectural approach of using large glass elements and organic structures floats the interior areas with luminosity and creates an exciting conjunction between interior and exterior zones, offering much more usable space than other yachts of the same range.

The yacht features six exterior lounge areas, including a private starlight observation lounge, a sundowner lounge, a glass Jacuzzi, as well as an exterior dining area with Teppanyaki show cooking and a BBQ bar. Folding balconies secure breathtaking views over the ocean and offer additional space for sunbathing and relaxing. A special highlight on board is a hot air balloon departure on the forward part of the yacht.

The large beach club on the aft part of Anaconda includes a diving store and preparation room, jacuzzi, and integrated beach bar, making the area an ideal gathering place during the day. The terraces on the sea allow direct access for diving, water toy boarding and shore excursions.

The contemporary interior style of Anaconda, with its clear lines and open, luminous spaces, reflects perfectly the exterior design. Panoramic windows and skylights create a direct link between inside and outside areas, always recalling the surrounding sea. The material concept is based on warm, natural colors and textures, like black lip mother of pearl and coconut mosaics, combined with contemporary materials such as glass and stainless steel. A special focus lies on illumination and the integration of modern art objects.

The interior layout features two salons on the upper and main deck; one main salon and dining area with a fireplace lounge and one day salon with bar that converts at night time into a cinema. The guest area, containing three large guest cabins, is located on the main deck in the heart of the public areas, while the owner's area, extended over two decks, is located on the aft part of the upper and bridge deck to secure privacy. Special highlights of the owner’s area are a skylight above the bed for shooting star watching and an inside-outside-Jacuzzi to use in any weather condition.

The two tender garages of the yacht keep a DeepFlight Super Falcon submarine and three additional tender boats, such as a sports tender, exploration tender and limousine tender. One of the tender garages can convert into a discotheque at night time offering a disco bar and an exclusive dance floor for the nightly parties on board. In order to recover from those parties and for well being in general, Anaconda also offers a wellness and health spa with massage rooms, hairdresser, sauna, float tub and gym on the lower deck of the yacht.

The iPhone 6 – Ahhhh!

Posted: 08 Nov 2013 07:04 AM PST

Here it is, another sweet iPhone 6 concept. Interestingly by pushing the display to the edge, a 4.8″ display has been fashioned. I prefer this bling touch to the minimal one that is seen in the iPhone 5s. What do you guys think? Aye or Nay?

College Ruled Genius – Part 2

Posted: 08 Nov 2013 06:38 AM PST

The Laser Cap is a good attempt at innovation; it basically involves a laser fitted cap that beams out the ruled lines seen on a sheet of paper. Why do we need this innovation? Perhaps to reduce the effects of inking the paper, improving our handwriting and making the text look neat. The only other reason that I can think of is a bit of clever fun, that acts as an inspiration for some bigger innovation.

The Evenflo Story With solidThinking Inspire

Posted: 08 Nov 2013 06:26 AM PST

To talk the talk is easy, but to walk the talk is a different ball game. What I mean is that most software companies simply leverage big words to deliver their speech but little else to validate their claims. However with solidThinking you are assured that they deliver what the promise. For example, with the solidThinking Inspire, they promise to offer a common visual language for engineering and ID. This is what infant equipment manufacturer Evenflo have to say….

Andy Davis, the Senior Design Engineer, Computer Aided Engineering at Evenflo, Inc. has this to say, "solidThinking Inspire shows the essential material that cannot be removed from a design. This helps you understand your design earlier and can be used as a common language between departments."

To give you a background, Evenflo's products include car seats, strollers, high chairs, play yards and activity products to meet the needs of children from birth to the pre-school years. "Safety is the key consideration in the design process. Ease of use is also important but costs must be controlled," says Andy.

The challenge here was to make child safety simple with innovative and easy-to-use products through a combination of engineering and industrial design. The solution came in the form of a process incorporating solidThinking Inspire to generate early concept designs and assist the product co-development by engineering and ID departments.

I am sure you are keen to know the results of this implementation. Well here they are:

  • Inspire provides a new way to look at part design
  • It offers a common visual language for engineering and ID showing where structure needs to be
  • Easy integration with current design tools and processes
  • The creation of a design that is 25% lighter and more cost effective than the part it replaced without compromising safety

To cut a long story short, the initial Inspire results showed potential for a 30% mass and material reduction. The result also enabled some less measurable benefits. Firstly the engineering design team was able to see load paths for the design in Inspire before exporting to Pro-E. The team was seeking to improve on the boxy appearance of the current part, and the Inspire results provided a place to start the conversation with ID to ensure the delivery of style and function.

"The initial Inspire results showed potential for a 30% mass and material reduction…after styling we were still able to achieve a 25% improvement.

To sum it up, with solidThinking Inspire you can co-create cost-effective solutions.

Remembering Fukushima

Posted: 08 Nov 2013 12:01 AM PST

The Unusual Chair by Japanese design firm h220430 is an expression of the current state of fragility the region is experiencing due to the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Though it has been 2 years since the disaster & things appear to be normal, the reality of the condition is far from it. The chair aims to reflect this abnormality in its missing leg, which viewers might overlook without closer examination. It’s a subtle & thoughtful reminder that the existence of danger is ever present despite our attempts to ignore it.

While working in his parents backyard, Bosse Tools founder Stephen Walden labored through hours of back & arm strain & thought there had to be a better way! He decided to combine the traditional shovel with the ease of use found in a hedge trimmer. The result is a tool that improves posture, reduces back strain, relieves wrist pain, & minimizes shoulder injury. All thanks to the addition of a revolutionary rotating center handle. Check it out & pre-order your’s here because this concept is soon to be a reality!
