Refined Audio

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 09:54 AM PST

Paris-based audio startup Aedle introduces its first model of high-end headphones with the stunning VK-1. The design is a far cry from the current trend of massive cans, combining aluminum and genuine leather in more sophisticated, minimal style that’s perfected by hand. With transducers in titanium and neodymium, these phones also deliver the high-performance audio the luxurious aesthetic suggests. You can pre-order yours here!

Cup Designed For Better Hygiene

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:49 AM PST

Here's the deal with drying cups hygienically. If you store them upright, then there is a chance of dirt/dust falling in. If you place them upside down, then the rim gets dirty once again. So to solve the problem we have here the Bevel Cup, inspired by the angular stance of a ballerina. The angular handle of the Bevel Cup allows it to remain as clean as possible when it is stored after being washed.

Bevel Cup has an angled handle (at 40°angle to horizontal plane) that allows it to stand at an angle, upside down, but resting only on the handle itself. This keeps dust out and germs off the rim. This storage position is also a good indicator that the cup is ready to be used rather than in need of a wash after a previous use.

Bevel Cup is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

How About A Glue Pen?

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:43 AM PST

The word 'gun' has turned pretty controversial due the recent events of shootings in the United States. So you have to kind of agree with Soon Bok Kang that because of its resemblance to a gun, the general glue gun is rather heavy and has a dangerous aura about it. To tame it a bit and of course make it more ergonomically designed, we have here the Glue Pen.

You simply need to insert the bullet-shaped glue inside the glue pen, close the lid and press the button. The Pen works with built-in batteries and is much more convenient.

Awesomely Atypical

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:01 AM PST

We’re loving this weird design! The Inception chair aims to break our ideas of the stereotypical chair in a number of ways. The striking elongated backrest’s divided planks sweep forward in random opposed to the classic elegant swoop backwards. According to designer Jong-Dae Ryu, this is also a functional enhancement, giving the seated person a place to hang a hat, bag or jacket. Additionally, a single arm rest on the right side is an uncommon feature that plays with the viewers perception and positioning when seated.

Shape Shifting Solar Lamp

Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:01 AM PST

One look at this modern lantern and it’s clear just how versatile it is. While it makes a great table or floor lamp, the tripodal design’s three bendable arms also make it possible to affix to the most awkward of surfaces or other objects to direct light exactly where you need it. Better yet, it’s entirely solar powered, utilizing solar-cells located on each arm to harness the sun’s energy.
