Wallpaper’s limited-edition Noma Bar posters

Posted: 08 Mar 2012 06:04 PM PST

We already shared some work by Noma Bar on Designer Daily, his brilliant “Cut it out” serie.

Wallpaper* magazine also must have enjoyed Noma’s work, because they published a serie of eight unique covers. Each cover is targetting a country, every time incorporating a famous industrial design. These designs are included in a mural illustration to form part of the drawing. For example: Jean Nouvel chairs form eyes for the French cover, a Schönbuch umbrella stand does the same for Germany, and an
ink box by Babaghuri acts as lips for the Japanese cover.

Here is what the artist has to say about it: “This was a large commission to work on and it took more than three weeks to create the sets for the shoot. The challenge of the Wallpaper* design brief lay in the highly interpretive notion of what each territory represents. I incorporated the furniture and objects in the foreground of the images and painted the background to create subtle references to new and old icons for each territory."

The April issue of Wallpaper* is out now. Additional exclusive Noma Bar content will be available in the Wallpaper* iPad edition. The eight covers will also be available to buy as posters and limited-edition prints, see Wallpaper.com/nomabar.

Koloro desk and stool by Torafu architects

A well-thought and beautiful desk found on Designboom. It’s simple and quite functional if you live in a small space. Just looks a little uncomfortable.
