Eggs Anywhere
Posted: 19 Dec 2011 09:33 AM PST
The ultra-portable Heater Egg Card utilizes a wire-web and thin skin that envelops the egg to reduce heating time. The casing can then be “smooshed” together to make it as thin as a credit card. Small enough to take anywhere in your wallet, purse, or other compact carrier.

Every Bathroom Needs This
Posted: 19 Dec 2011 01:00 AM PST
What good is a Roca or a Reece designed bathroom if it isn't fitted with futuristic gadgets that compliment their elegance! I'm talking about the Breeze Rack – an appropriate towel rack, hair dryer, bathroom ventilator and sterilizer! The device can be used to ventilate the room by circulating air, as a towel rail and can even dry and sanitize towels. The hair dryer detaches from one end of the rack, making it the perfect bathroom device. I want one NOW!
Breeze Rack is a 2011 red dot design concept winner.

We’ve all dreamt about shooting blue shells at the car in front of us and dropping banana peels to screw up traffic during rush hour! I know I have. For now we’ll have to keep dreaming, but at least we can take some of our road-rage out on this bad@$$ hybrid one-seater recreational vehicle that’s reminiscent of one very familiar race-kart.
The design combines combustion and electric technologies into one hybrid hyper-kart that will make your head spin.
The internal combustion engine is an 160 cc 4-stroke, overhead valve, 5.5 hp at 3600rpm, with centrifugal clutch. A 4L gas tank gives it a range of approximately 16 miles with continuous use.
Alternatively, the electric motor operates at 48 volts, 3600 rpm with a torque of 30 Nm at 5500 watts, with an efficiency of 69%, with variable voltage DC power that feeds on 4 batteries in parallel, 12V 110 amps each, generating a range of 1 hour of continuous use, requiring about 6 hours of connection to 220V to be recharged. Like the combustion engine, it can use the same transmission with optimum transmission ratio.
With both engines running in tandem, the vehicle has a range of approximately 4 hours in continuous use.
As for security- the chassis is made of alloy steel and the fairings were designed to hide all functional components, protecting the user from exposure to high-temperature materials, fluids, and chafing. The fairing design also envelops the cockpit, putting the user in a central position to shield from side collisions.
A multifunctional  steering wheel features a button that cuts engine power on the spot and regulating power of the electric motor. Additionally, pedals can be adjusted up to 20cm to accommodate both children and adults.
The chair is made of lightweight fiberglass and foam upholstered in recycled polypropylene, and is  lined in recycled leather to improve ergonomics and prevent common bruises on the lower back.

Becoming X

A deserving winner of the 2011 red dot design concept award, the X Plus table was conceived as a functional sculpture for contemporary living spaces. To achieve the shape, three triangular areas are cut from a single sheet of stainless steel, the sheet is bent into form and the two end points are welded together. The result is a modular object composed of two X shapes that works independently or arranged in a series. In a variety of hues and finishes, the table is adaptable to almost any motif.

The Joy of Winning!
Posted: 19 Dec 2011 12:00 AM PST
Jonathan Ive says that a designer needs to "solve a problem in a way that acknowledges its context." Given that the iPad is as perfect as a tablet can get, it does have some limitations when it comes to creative usage. To address this, the team at Adonit came up with not one but two award winning (2012 iF Product Design) solutions: The Writer Bluetooth Keyboard & Folio and Jot Capacitive Touch Stylus. With a goal to design products that will empower users to create a more vibrant world, we think their story is inspirational!

Writer Bluetooth Keyboard & Folio by Adonit

The Writer is the perfect companion for enhancing the productivity of your iPad. The keyboard body consists of sleek aluminum. Its scissor action keys respond to your every thought with that familiar click as you easily glide through paragraphs. Writer will provide you with the comfortable and efficient typing experience iPads are missing.
Jot Capacitive Touch Stylus by Adonit
