Refreshing Bike Ride Posted: 25 Apr 2014 07:32 AM PDT The Air-Purifier Bike addresses the problem of air pollution in the city by filtering air and generating oxygen. The design integrates an air filter that screens dust and pollutants from the environment. It also includes a photosynthesis system that uses an embedded water tank that produces oxygen. Other specs include electric motor and a battery. While it is being ridden, air passes through the filter at the front of the bike, where it is cleaned before being released toward cyclist. The bike frame houses the photosynthesis system. When the bike is parked, the air purifying functions can continue under battery power. With standard cleats riders must carry a second pair of shoes to change in to after riding, but this concept is less rigid while being more waterproof, making them comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Built in LED lights at the heels also provide a layer of safety not offered by current cleats. Minimal, sleek and stylish, you might find yourself wearing them even when you’re not cycling! Smart Kitchen TV Posted: 25 Apr 2014 06:47 AM PDT Smart Kitchen TV is a concept design that merges LG Electronics' smart TV and projector technology. It brings home the smart media technology that transforms a typical dead zone to a digital information and media hub. Smart Kitchen TV provides a large TV screen with a minimal installation area. It uses a small Pico projector module. Its functional controls work with a motion-sensing camera and voice recognition technology. The darker area beneath wall-hung kitchen cabinets is an ideal spot for projecting the screen. The projector can rotate by 180 degrees, allowing the 'screen' to appear on various surfaces. Funky Outdoor Fireplace Posted: 25 Apr 2014 12:01 AM PDT This wild looking concept is at once a sculptural centerpiece and functional fireplace for your outdoor area. The modern wood-burning design differs from other fire pits in that it encourages people to lean on and touch its surfaces to warm their body while observing its internal spiral flame created by an air flow rotation system. The copper strips that fan outward are also warmed to provide heat to the user’s feet. Unlike other conventional wood burning stoves and fireplaces, this design has no chimney or other means of moving smoke and combustion gases away from the user. An internal system draws cool air inside from around the base and enters a series of tapered helical shaped chambers where it accelerates and is pre-heated. The twist direction of the helical chambers provides air flow rotation in the same direction generating a swirling flame. Unfortunately, those currently at risk must rely on predicted data rather than real-time information. The Flood Beacon aims to address this issue by detecting water surges and issuing widespread alerts to not only the appropriate rescue teams but the general public via mobile phone notifications.
