Multifunctional Space Tourer

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 10:50 AM PST

The latest from space travel-enthusiast Oscar Viñals, the M2G White Bat combines space tourism with scientific exploration to expand the functionality of each trip. While primarily focused on the passenger’s space experience, the craft would be capable of delivering a number of commercial satellites or drones as supplementary support. In addition, an independently operated capsule with a single passenger could be deployed upon reentry in order to train and prepare astronauts for return missions.

Bruce Lee And His Cards

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 08:30 AM PST

"The meaning of life is that it has to be lived." How true! And full marks for guessing the author of this quote – Bruce Lee. Known as the most influential martial-arts artists of all time, Lee was single-handedly responsible for breaking the stereotype of Asians in Hollywood movies. Commemorating his 73rd birthday today, the visionaries in the art of magic and cardistry, Dan and Dave, are out with a dedicated Bruce Lee Playing Cards Deck. All the cards feature an inspiring Bruce Lee quote, except for the Aces.

Besides the use of captivating colors for the deck, I love the fact that Dan and Dave have used different philosophical quotes from Bruce Lee’s teachings on each card. Infusing a deeper meaning to them, the Aces are void of any comment, symbolizing a free mind.

Bruce Lee Enterprises along with magicians Dan and Dave honor the masters' legacy and contribute to his foundation. Here's a trivia that I suppose every die-hard Bruce Lee fan would know: he was born 73 years ago, on both the hour and year of the dragon.

The Chinese dragon design on the backs of the cards celebrates his birth and the iconic tracksuit he wore in 'Game of Death' inspires the faces of the cards. They feature a black stripe running through them, "like water".

The unique monogram that brings Bruce Lee and Dan and Dave Buck together as one, unifying their art forms under the teachings of Jeet Kune Do, and Bruce Lee's philosophy of using no way as way and having no limitation as limitation, is by far the most delightful part of this deck. In one direction, the symbol reads BL, flip it over and DB is seen, as if by magic. Clever!

Early in the year we featured Dan and Dave's collaboration with Stranger & Stranger for the Ultimate Deck, and this year we are proud to feature their new Bruce Lee playing cards. Just like their Ultimate Deck, lots of thought when into these, both in concept and execution. In our opinion, they couldn't more beautifully pay tribute to Bruce Lee.

Like water, playing cards can flow or they can crash. “Be like water.”

Eating With Benefeat

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 05:38 AM PST

Benefeat looks like any regular tableware, but is specifically designed to eliminate the social stigma related to adults with cerebral palsy and when they dine with others. Five dinnerware have been designed for this, the first is bowl with an inclined inner base, the second is a plate that is inclined above a flat base, next is a cup with a straw insert, the fourth is a spoon with an adjusted angle and finally an anti-slip placemat.

  • The Benefeat bowl has an inclined inner base profile that allows food to be more easily scooped up.
  • The edge profile is also slanted, gradually changing in profile from convex to concave at the lip of the bowl.
  • The lip itself makes gripping the bowl easier.
  • A non-slip base pad can be detached for cleaning – also a common feature of the plate and cup.
  • The Benefeat plate is inclined above a flat base; so one side is higher than the other.
  • The user can rotate it to the position that best suits them.
  • The wide edge can also accommodate food, and the handle is easy to grip.
  • The lip of the Benefeat cup contains a hole through which a straw can be inserted to overcome this problem.
  • The handle has been shaped for easy holding.
  • The Benefeat spoon can be adjusted to any angle, it has an ergonomically shaped silicon handle, which ensures that it can be gripped well.
  • The anti-slip Benefeat placemat incorporates a groove near the edge that prevents any spillages from flowing out onto the table.
  • The non-slip base pads for the bowl, plate, and cup are all the same size and can be interchanged.

Benefeat is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winner.

Audi Awesomeness

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 05:38 AM PST

The Audi Concept Projector is all about incorporating the Audi DNA into the design. The highlight of course is the Audi grille design wind hole of the projector. Very masculine and vibrant, even the smart start button has picked up influences from the car.

Sculptural Seating

Posted: 27 Nov 2013 12:01 AM PST

Influenced by Noguchi’s philosophy in which “everything is sculpture,” the Poise chair inspires the user to see what they’d like in its abstract form. With natural, flowing curves and refined materials of solid oak and genuine kudu leather, the chair’s design embodies the word, poise.
