Cookie for a Tweet

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 09:19 AM PDT

This clever design called the UID Cookie Box focuses on the idea of reward marketing in the form of a simplistic box that distributes a single cookie when a user (usually a random passerby) posts a designated hashtag on Twitter. Simply check out the display to see what to tweet! I know what you’re thinking – more tweets more cookies, right? Well calm your cookie craving because just one hashtag is allowed per username. Sad face.

Experimental Cooking With Molecules

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 01:11 AM PDT

As an avid MasterChef fan, the appliances that the participants get to use, stump me. Imagine dabbling with molecular cooking and cooking meats in a water-bath. The Mo’Sphere hopes to recreate those magical moments in a regular kitchen. With bringing molecular cooking techniques to everyday homes, the possibility of experimenting with flavors and textures become limitless.

Until now this kind of cooking was restricted to celebrity chefs and Five Star restaurants. Basically molecular cooking appliance makes use of physical and chemical reactions during cooking. Imagine using flash freezing, foams, frosts, gelés and even cotton candy on an everyday basis. Mo’Sphere makes all of this possible.

Mo’Sphere is a 2012 Electrolux Design Lab top ten finalist entry.

The Original Air

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 01:01 AM PDT

The Original Breath is a window based air purifier that brings in purified air into your room and employs a very unique way of doing this. It features a system where the external part consists of a solar panel (to power a mini suction fan), an outer glass and plants. So basically what happens is that the air enters the room only after passing through this sealed ventilation box. Regular air is sucked in with the help of the fan and the plants do their thing by absorbing the carbon dioxide and expelling oxygen. The air that is filtered into the room is much cleaner and fresher than before. Clever!

Original Breath is a 2012 iF Design Talents entry.

Urban Escape

Lysning urban park proposal by Norwegian design firms Space Group & Superunion will be a modern public hub in the midst of a historical waterfront district in Sandnes, Norway. An architectural ring provides relief from sun & rain, & connects the various public spaces of the interior, including a water fountain area for cooling off, skate park, running track & plenty of gardens, foliage & grass for laying about. Inspired by NYC’s Central Park, the center also aims to be a space for community events & celebrations.

Sticky Illusion

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 12:01 AM PDT

The Stuck chair gets its name from the visual trickery created by its unique construction of pieces that seem to “stick” in place. The form was achieved by deconstructing the archetypical chair and rearranging components to appear as though they are attached by an unseen gravitational force. The simple and minimal design consists of an oak seat and legs and just a single powder coated steel rod that forms the back rest, giving it potential for a variety of custom colors.
