Poo Disposal Through a Curve

Posted: 21 Jun 2012 06:50 AM PDT

When the local government of Hungary was looking for a motivational campaign to get dog owners to dispose off the dog poo from the streets, little did they know that the prize-winning entry Curve would garner so much support and enthusiasm. The trashcan designed by Kőrös Benedek – Ben Koros has a fun and intriguing way of dumping the waste. Read on to know more.

Ben explains, "The biggest problem with dog waste disposal cans is, that they fill up on domestic rubbish way before time – thus even responsible dog owners can’t dispose their pet’s waste. I’ve tried to design a can, which doesn’t allow bottles, bags full of trash, empty boxes etc. to be dropped inside. The user must pick up the poo, place it in a plastic bag (biologically degradable plastic bags included on the Curve), and lead it through a curvy gap on the top, to be able to dump it."

Absolutely brilliant!

iPUP Has a New Friend – iDUCK

Posted: 21 Jun 2012 06:32 AM PDT

Meet iDUCK, a very clever stand for your iPhone and other smartphones. Fashioned as a duck beak in a bright orange color, the stand sticks on to the back of a phone with utter ease. The hollow in the beak acts as a good makeshift earphone storage and the handy lanyard makes it a cool keychain accomplice. I love it for its quacky style and uber simplicity. A fitting friend for the iPUP!

Spinning Wall of Wind

Posted: 21 Jun 2012 12:01 AM PDT

This unique sunshade, named Poetic Wind, creates a shimmering visual experience with wavelike shadows and light reflections activated by the outdoor breeze. As the wind presses against the panel, thousands of hexagonal pieces spin independently, revealing two different sides of silver and white. The result is a beautiful, unpredictable pattern of light and motion that can turn a bare screen into a captivating accent.

Sweat is a Good Thing

Posted: 21 Jun 2012 12:01 AM PDT

Inspired by the human body’s own natural thermoregulation system, the Botl is a clever design that, like us, uses sweat as its primary cooling mechanism. If you’ve ever had a cold drink outside in the sun, you’ve see beads of water drip down the side. The Botl features a unique porous skin that holds on to this “perspiration” so that when the user is riding a bike, the breeze hits the bottle and keeps the beverage cooler longer. Genius!

IV Made Easy

Posted: 21 Jun 2012 12:01 AM PDT

It’s no wonder that getting an IV at the hospital is scary for a lot of people- it looks scary, can be painful, and often takes more than once to get it right! The Medical Feather is an innovative gadget that uses ultrasound technology to find the vein and mark it with a patch that helps nurses guide the needle to the right spot each time. The cooled patch desensitizes the skin so minimal pain is involved and also acts as a blinder, keeping the needle-to-skin action out of sight so the patient stays calm.
