Yanko Design - Form Beyond Function |
Posted: 09 May 2012 03:49 AM PDT My designer friends are going to appreciate the '0 Point Ruler', one that gives you the flexibility to start point zero from wherever you like. The ruler is basically a pressure-sensitive touchscreen strip that has digital markings. It tanks up juice via a few good swirls around your finger and is easy to use. I love it for its innovative streak and peaceful marriage of technology. 0 Point Ruler is a 2012 iF Design Talents Winner. Posted: 09 May 2012 03:43 AM PDT A Clean Label is a low cost protective label that prevents you from drinking from a contaminated soda can. If we take the user scenario seriously, I agree with the notion that we tend to take swig from the can, without even cleaning it. It’s a subconscious act and yes, we are filthy…me included! This simple can-clip redesign adds a cleaning filament that swipes the can-surface clean in a jiffy. Cheers to a germ-free drink! Designers: Meixian Su, Fengming Chen & Yujie Chen - Related posts: |
Posted: 09 May 2012 12:01 AM PDT This unique ceiling installation by Studio Bernal aims to create ever-so-subtle changes in a room’s acoustic and visual atmospheres by making articulated changes in the form of its surface. Inspired the the animal of the same name, the Manta makes adjustments in position through multi-modal input including sound, stereoscopic vision, touch, and even brainwaves, changing according to the actions of the people around it. The installation was built in Studio 1 at EMPAC, which is an acoustically inert space, so the designers were able to audibly perceive how geometry affects sound in realtime. Posted: 09 May 2012 12:01 AM PDT The PFD by Sanu K R is designed to be almost unrecognizable as a life preserver. The device looks more like a stylish bag strap or necklace but inflate it and you’ve got a functional floaty that holds the wearer upright in the water to facilitate proper breathing. To inflate, simply pull the chain the break the lock- if you do wear it as a necklace just be careful not to snag it on anything! Designer: Sanu K R - Related posts:

Posted: 09 May 2012 12:01 AM PDT The ZenCircus chair is a twist on the latest trend of fitness-minded furniture that makes it possible for the user to do a long list of alternative exercises like yoga positions, trapeze and balance. The hammock-style chair cradles the user in the desired position using extendable fabric that molds to the shape of the body. Use it as a hardcore workout to make you sweat or find some peace of mind in your favorite stretching pose! Designers: Kévin Geffroy, Caroline Kermarrec and Alexia Moisan - Related posts: |
