Things such as brass knuckles, pepper spray, pocket knives & whistles to name a few,” says the designers. All this from a few inspiring trips thru San Francisco’s sketchier neighborhoods. | Unofficial Nooka Concept and We Like It Posted: 24 Oct 2011 01:46 AM PDT Whenever a concept comes into our box, I can usually make a quick decision as to whether or not it’ll make it to the blog by giving it a once-over. But when it’s a concept inspired by and designed for an international brand, my immediate response will either be harsh or laboriously complimentary. Fortunately this concept falls into the latter. I know Nooka and its head henchman Matt Waldman so I can say with certainty, this concept watch takes the Nooka DNA and twists it into something new. Kudos. Nooka is a dichotomy with their minimalist aesthetics accompanied by some of the most complicated time faces. It’s a place where art, design and logic meet. If you don’t have an affinity for at least two of those pre-requisites, you’re never going to understand Nooka. Designer Mario Troise does. This watch is minimalist, elegant, futuristic, easy to make and forces you to think of time yet in another visual way – this time made of up twelve boxes each made of up single pixels. This simple and minimal design removes the burden of packaging and disposal of used bulbs for a better environment. Their kitsch looks up the glam quotient and make them a trendy display. As the designer puts it, "once the paper bulb is no longer useable, consumers can simply change a new paper bulb for their lamp and the old one can be recycled." | Posted: 24 Oct 2011 12:01 AM PDT Mumbai, my hometown is famous for its harsh monsoons and I have seen people come up with ingenious ideas to protect themselves from the rain-wrath. But trust me nothing beats the Umbrella Coat Raincoat concept. Simply put, it's a clever combination of a raincoat, waterproof trousers and an umbrella. The biggest plus being that it leaves your hands free to carry or do other stuff. Something that is completely not possible with an umbrella.
