Posted: 01 May 2013 08:45 AM PDT The Exploder II has a four wheel drive system where each wheel uses the Michelin Active Wheel technology and an individual electric motor that controls the vehicle direction linked to the steering wheel by a wireless system. The Michelin Active wheels toe-in to allow the vehicle to rotate about a pivot point that is located at the center of the vehicle. This in combination with its lightweight chassis make it an unstoppable ESUV. The Exploder II also focuses its material composition on ease of production, recyclability, and lightweight efficiency. The main body is made of stretched lightweight tensile fabric with integrated thin film solar panels on a tubular structure made of thermoplastic composite materials that collect supplemental energy from the sun. These materials are tougher, lighter, and stiffer, which allow it to easily reach high-speeds with small energy consumption and perform better in the event of a collision. Posted: 01 May 2013 03:17 AM PDT The Glass Sign is a solar powered pedestrian crossing that is quite funky. The sign stays mostly off and when a pedestrian needs to use it, they just swipe the signal pole to activate the light. The duration of the signal depends upon the width of the road to be crossed. I love the awesome glow-red-effect the lamp has on for the night. Designer: Almasov Aibek - Related posts: |
Posted: 01 May 2013 03:00 AM PDT MagPen is a magnetically driven pen interface that works both on and around mobile devices. The device introduces a new vocabulary of gestures and techniques that redefine the way we use our current standard capacitive stylus. With this new pen we can explore ranges like detecting the orientation the stylus is pointing to, selecting colors using locations beyond the screen boundaries and more. MagPen recognizing different spinning gestures associated with different actions, it even infers the pressure applied to the pen, and uniquely identifies different pens associated with different operational modes. As the designer explains, These techniques are achieved using commonly available smartphones that sense and analyze the magnetic field produced by a permanent magnet embedded in a standard capacitive stylus. This paper explores how magnets can be used to expand the design space of current pen interaction, and proposes a new technology to achieve such results. Designer: SungJae Hwang - No related posts. |
Posted: 01 May 2013 12:09 AM PDT Gosh shower gels introduce an entirely new shower experience in the form of single-use dissolving tablets that completely eliminate the need for PET plastic bottles. It’s similar to the detergent tablets for your dishwasher only they’re for your bod! Each tablet has two uses; the first layer exfoliates skin before dissolving to the second layer of shower gel that cleanses and leaves skin feeling refreshed with nutrient-rich geyser water. Posted: 01 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT Is there something more comforting about holding a phone in your hand that feels and looks curvy? Perhaps yes, and this is why phones like the VEGA, inspired by the design and innovation “brionvega”, demand so much attention. According to the designer, the display is curved for a better grip and use and the black and white OS is super cool. The color function is active only for the video – photo modes and the phone is crafted from polycarbonate. Designer: Simone Savini - Related posts: |
Posted: 01 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT Literally. It’s called “My Corkscrew Sucks” and it does… in the best way! Lots of people love to collect their old wine corks for keepsake, but regular wine corks damage the cork in the process of opening. This design uses suction to pull out the cork, ensuring that it’s left perfectly in tact. It’s just as quick to use, safer, and takes less muscle! Designer: Alan Kwok - Related posts: |
