Posted: 11 Sep 2012 09:22 AM PDT Dia is a clever twist on the calendar that provides an interactive and fun way to interpret passing time. The system is based on 366 (one extra for leap years) modified puzzle pieces that can link to any neighboring piece, allowing you to create a visual expression of how YOU see the year! It won’t help keep track of daily tasks, but after it’s completed it can be kept as a framed keepsake to reflect on years passed. Designer: Goncalo Campos - Related posts: |
Ten Innovative Award Winning Concepts at A’ Design Awards Posted: 11 Sep 2012 06:23 AM PDT Innovation is a very relative term and can resonate differently to people. One of the definitions I learnt was that innovations should be something new; should generate curiosity and debate; and lastly should be doable. Barring the doable criteria, I guess most of what is defined is true. When we chart the course of the A’ Design Awards, we see some really innovative concepts showcased that have generated enough traction to warrant a conversation. Here is a look at ten innovative award winning concepts that have won the A’ Design Awards. Posted: 11 Sep 2012 05:08 AM PDT There is a growing trend in concept cameras to include simple gestures to control its functions. We first saw this with the Air Clicker Camera and now it's surfaced once again with the Take Frame. The idea here is to 'crop' the picture you want to click using the two crop tools, just like how you would use your thumb and forefinger. Interesting the way this industry is innovating. Posted: 11 Sep 2012 05:00 AM PDT The Vacuun Cleaner is an unconventional vacuum cleaner that serenades as a broom. The sweeping and cleaning motions while using this appliance are ditto and make the task much easier than before. The small flexible tubes are designed to vacuum or clean corners where brooms find it difficult to reach. Made up of two parts the vacuum cleaner (broom) and charger (inspired by bucket) work in sync to clean up the house. The cleaners is made thus: battery (at the bottom), dust deposit in broomstick (where is located the dust storage bag), LCD (indicating battery levels and rate of vacuum), vacuum system (at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner where the fan and electric motor) and the head of the vacuum cleaner (consisting of flexible tubes of polyethylene, which lets in the dust). As far as production is concerned the components easily disassemble and can be injected in polyethylene. It is made by materials which can be easily recycled Designer: Patrick Pedrosa - Related posts: |
Posted: 11 Sep 2012 12:01 AM PDT There are plenty of folding bikes out there, but what sets the Neo Volt apart from the rest is not one but TWO different ways to fold- not to mention, the fact that it’s ELECTRIC! The ingenious, patented frame can fold into a sliver of its original size for easy transition from public transportation to the road, or it can twist into an even smaller, ultra-compact figure that’s easily stow-able in the trunk of a car. No need to worry about wires, the battery and drivetrain are 100% integrated into the frame! Designer: ITEM for BH Bikes - Related posts:

Posted: 11 Sep 2012 12:01 AM PDT The life of a diabetic involves an exhaustive number of components for monitoring blood glucose levels. The Cactus (hehe) concept combines all the necessities into one compact unit that fits perfectly into the modern lifestyle. One end measures glucose levels and the other injects the insulin amount automatically gauged from the first read. Wireless syncing to smart phones or tablets make it a dream-come-true for doctors and patients, making it possible to record and analyze results in less than half the time. Check out the vid!
