Yanko Design - Form Beyond Function |
Posted: 23 Jan 2013 09:21 AM PST Designed with eyes on the future, this striking table was inspired by the Maglev train’s use of magnetic technology and applies the same levitating principles to a functional, futuristic dining table. Using an electromagnetic suspension system, the table levitates above a steel plate while electromagnets attached to the table are oriented toward the plate from below. The user can easily change table height by adjusting the strength of the magnetic field. Designer: Yana Christiaens - Related posts: |
Posted: 23 Jan 2013 08:37 AM PST It got a new lease of life and became this trendy table to hold books and other stuff. You have to love the simplistic approach adopted by Low Yi Siu in crafting the Rebirth magazine rack. Over the years we have accumulated a lot of e-waste and one great way of reusing the discarded cathode-ray-tube (CRT) computer monitor, is this. Emotional, iconic, call it whatever you want, but the retro appeal of this table is bound to be a conversation piece. Rebirth is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner. Posted: 23 Jan 2013 12:02 AM PST Better face it now – one day Fluffy’s time will come too! Awww, I know… sad. But here’s a way to remember your long lost pet forever! The Coffin for Pets is more than just a funerary container. Made of 100% biodegradable papier-mâché, the thoughtful design contains a single tree seed that sprouts into new life in the place where your pet was buried. It’s a great (and eco-friendly) way to cope with grief and remember good ol’ Fluffmuffin. Designer: HURLUBERLU - Related posts:

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 12:01 AM PST Any bicycle enthusiast will tell you that the comfort of the rider’s hands is paramount for a pleasant and safe ride. The X-ing grip focuses in on this key part of the bike, adapting to the shape of the rider’s hand over time and providing heat or cooling depending on the season. Purposefully placed grooves increase ventilation in the summer to reduce slipperiness cause by sweaty hands. In the winter, an internal “hot-wire” is solar charged and warms the grips to keep hands from numbing. Genius! Designers: Jin Won Heo, Sung Jin Lim, Kyung Han Yoon, & Da Som Kim - Related posts: |
Posted: 23 Jan 2013 12:00 AM PST Be honest, are you still eyeing that perfectly shaped ice ball or imaginatively savoring the drink? I'm doing both; there is nothing better than enjoying my favorite Scotch poured on the rocks…or wait, on this ice ball! To savor the taste of great whiskey (or spirit) is to have it with minimal dilution. Typical ice cubes melt faster than a sphere, which is why at most high-end dos you'll find the bar serving drinks with a sphere of ice. The Cirrus Press ice ball maker is just for that. The Matte Black 2.75″ Cirrus Press compresses regular ice into a convenient sphere of 6-ounces. The logic behind this is that a sphere has the least surface area of any solid, creating the least ice-to-alcohol contact ratio possible, and allowing the slowest dilution rate of the ice into the cocktail over time. I love the bold matte black finish, which incidentally is a new matte black product line from Cirrus Products. The carefully crafted Cocktail Jigger and Cigar Ashtray definitely know how to add that dash of designer sophistication to your bar! Très chic!
