I’m pretty sure most of Designer Daily’s readers have already burnt a music CD or downloaded some MP3s, but there seems to be a new way to make your own music now, although it’s only been experimented by one person: Amanda Ghassaei. She has been playing with a 3D printer to create this vinyl, and even though the results are not so good in terms of sound, they are quite impressive to show the capabilities of 3D printing.

Toasting By The Color

Hue is a toaster that toasts bread according to the shade you choose. The toaster apparently harnesses the power of an array of color sensors via a simple interface, in order to intuitively and smartly toast bread to that perfect shade of golden brown. Basically the sensors keep the heating element on till the bread reaches the shade of brown that you desire. So instead of working on generic number of toasting like 2,3,4 etc, the toaster uses your specific shade for reference. Perfect!

iF DESIGN TALENTS Awards 2013

It's the lull right after Christmas and before the New Year's frenzy; the perfect time to get hold of those projects and submit them to the iF DESIGN TALENTS Awards 2013. Did you ask why? Well, because the iF DESIGN TALENTS is one of the most respected concept design awards that empower young student designers to make their mark. Hit this link to see the kind of projects we have previously covered on Yanko Design and you will know what I mean.

Some Facts:

All students and young designer can submit their entries for the iF concept design award 2013.
Entries can also be submitted for the Hansgrohe Preis 2013: Efficient Water Design – a special award on the theme of “My Open Showers Space”
Total prize money of 5,000 EUR will be awarded in this segment.
Last Date for Registration: 10th January 2013.
