Posted: 11 Mar 2014 10:09 AM PDT “Sporty Supaheroe” is a stylish cycling jacket for the urban warrior! This new kind of digital apparel proves that safety gear doesn’t have to look lame. Using stretchable circuit board technology, it offers improved visibility and security in the dark with bright LEDs. The circuit board is made out of thermoplastic polyurethane, onto which meander-shaped copper conductors are applied. Therefore, the circuit board can easily be integrated into textiles by lamination. Designer: Utope - Related posts: |

In short, you will not only win € 5000 but also get a head start to life. YD has been media partners with the Design Lab for over three years now and each year we see a phenomenal growth the value that this design competition brings to young talents. It was just last year when Hidashi Hamaguchi and Yanko Design's Design Strategist was a part of the Jury and awarded Adrian Perez Zapata from Colombia, the first prize for his concept – Mab. For the 2014 challenge, Electrolux Design Lab is looking for students who want to challenge preconceptions. They are looking for ideas that are based on insights around human behavior and ones that can improve the quality of people's everyday lives. Submissions can be products, accessories, consumables and services for one of the following focus areas: Design challenge: Which inspiring and motivating solutions within culinary enjoyment can be designed to support the desire for healthier lifestyles in future homes? Design challenge: How can design solutions within fabric care offer support to the desire for sustainable, stylish and well-managed homes? Design challenge: How can air purification be designed in a way that enhances the quality of the different activities in our living environments and addresses specific needs?
The internship takes place in one of the ten design centers that Electrolux has around the globe. The headquarters of Electrolux is situated in Stockholm, Sweden. You have to submit a description of an idea, a visual sketch illustrating the idea and a description of the consumer benefits.

Posted: 11 Mar 2014 05:21 AM PDT The UVC Dock is one of those crazy ideas that has it all. What I mean is that it's a wireless Bluetooth enabled charging dock for mobile phones and other devices. It shows trivia like time, weather and calendar but more importantly the UV light within sanitizes your devices as they charge. Now here is something radically different and original that just being a storage or space-saving product. Good job! Designer: Lin Shu Kai - No related posts. |
Cell Phone Recycled To Better Things Posted: 11 Mar 2014 05:07 AM PDT Before you discard your old cell phone, think of the possibility of it lighting up a child's life. Allow me to explain, data suggests that millions of phones are discard globally but very few make it to the recycle bin. If we take a fraction of these discarded phones and convert them into a low-cost camera for the under-privileged, then we can encourage a new breed of trigger-happy kids.

Posted: 11 Mar 2014 12:01 AM PDT Maple Set investigates an alternative emotional response to everyday kitchen knives! The project was undertaken as an exploration of unique materials and visual combinations of an industry stale with repetitive designs. No matter how you slice and dice it, this collection is one like no other! The designers of Maple Set wanted to look at kitchen knives from a new perspective. They focused on the essence of a knife – that key component that people think about when considering a knife. They isolated the blade as that defining component and designed around it as the highlight of the product. Reducing the size and visual weight of the blade turned it into a sliver of polish and refinement. From there, the designers looked at other kitchen tools and felt that the warmth of wood made it a great material in that context. The stark contrast of materials worked well to highlight the smaller blade and blend the body in with its surroundings. The result is a beautiful product that breaks the mould of traditional thinking on an everyday product. Designer: The Federal - Related posts: |
