The Fireguard

Posted: 25 Feb 2014 09:01 AM PST

As simple as it is, the classic fire extinguisher is intimidating and confusing to use. It’s also cumbersome and large, meaning most people won’t keep it handy (if they keep one at all). The Fireguard was created to combat these problems with a compact, easier to use, friendly design that’s right at home in the kitchen where most fires start. See how it works —>

Fireguard is activated with a motion much more natural than pulling a pin- instead, simply pull the lever and you’re ready to go. The inside is also assembled with two separate canisters, allowing them to be individually refilled or recycled, so nothing has to be thrown away anymore.

Asthma Inhaler for Proactive Healthcare

Posted: 25 Feb 2014 07:31 AM PST

Occurrence of asthma has increased significantly since the 1970s and much of it has been attributed to the increased exposure to airborne chemical triggers. As human bodies strive hard to cope with environments they are not originally intended for, preventive measures attain as much significance as treatments. The ‘Twist+’ dry inhaler makes use of innovative technology to help with both prevention and treatment of Asthma attacks.

Designed by Diana Dumitrescu, the dry powder inhaler also houses a sensor which can detect the presence of Volatile Organic Compounds in the surrounding air. Air quality reports will be then sent to a dedicated smartphone App to warn the user. The handy App can also remind the user in case they forgot the inhaler at home. It can even keep your doctor posted about your health. Further support for asthma management is provided via Twist+ website.

Smart and Original iPhone Dock

Posted: 25 Feb 2014 03:19 AM PST

iPhones, due to their massive production volumes, cannot afford to wear a design that reflects the personality of its individual users. Hence the uni-sexual, personality neutral, clean geometric design. Legit. But why should its third party aftermarket accessories mimic the same impersonal design? Even when the novelty factor associated with the iphone form is wearing off? In a market flooded with M’apple ( I’m Apple too! ) products, the ‘Infinity Dock, is a breath of fresh air. Unlike their metrosexual counterparts, this sharp featured, meched up, all metal iPhone dock is unapologetically masculine in a refined manner.

Designed by Thomas Wietecki and Zack Cram, the Infinity Dock is intended to be a mechanical desktop sculpture. Manufactured at their own machine shop, the two piece Aluminum dock comes in multiple finishes and colors. A finely knuckled anodized aluminium screw holds the unique door mechanism for cable management. Its micro suction pads enable firm grip on smooth surfaces and the custom mini USB port enables the dock to serve your other devices too.

Maserati in the Raw

Posted: 25 Feb 2014 12:01 AM PST

The Maserati “LaMaserati” is a concept flagship hyper car based around the LaFerrari platform. Utilizing the same V12 engine (but retuned with the KERS system removed to save weight), LaMaserati is designed to be the purest expression of the brand’s core values: elegant styling, striking presence and performance finesse.

The concept is built around the LaFerrari hyper car much in the same way the Maserati MC12 was built around the Ferrari Enzo. The smooth curves, sweeping windscreen and aggressive front fascia along with the classic blue and white color scheme tie LaMaserati aesthetically to the brand’s range and the company’s heritage. The airflow inspired bodywork is designed with a focus on smooth, unbroken lines and fluid surfaces that wrap around the wheels to create a contemporary and dynamic aesthetic.

With LaFerrari’s KERS system removed to save weight and the Ferrari 6.3l V12 retuned to compensate for the loss of power and torque, LaMaserati is geared more to the sensation of driving than the final performance figures. Lightness, handling and a more analogue driving feel take priority over power and overall speed.
