Posted: 08 Oct 2013 09:47 AM PDT Sparks is an ingenious modular lighting system that takes inspiration from a number of naturally occurring geometrical shapes and molecular structures. The resulting aesthetic lands somewhere between a DNA chain and a frozen spark of light! Every module in the system can be rotated 360°, making it easily adaptable to any architectural situation. Layout possibilities are almost endless, so each impression is completely different in its spatial context. Designer: Daniel Becker - Related posts: |
Posted: 08 Oct 2013 03:56 AM PDT There is a good chance that when you really need it, the fire extinguisher that you bought eons ago will not work. This is mainly because of poor maintenance and the life span of the system. To counter this problem, we have here the Firearc, a fire extinguisher that uses a chemical reaction to activate. With a simple twisting action, the creation of an instant chemical reaction can activate the salts and help combat the flames. For example, bicarbonate salts and acid mix together and activate to produce a massive amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that can be incorporated, to streamline the use of the fire extinguisher. This kinda removes an expiry date to the extinguisher. Designer: Eason Chow Wai Tung - Related posts: |
Posted: 08 Oct 2013 03:23 AM PDT Flash floods are such a pain, especially to merchants and street vendors who stand to lose the most in this emergency situation. One of the more aesthetic preventive actions is the 360° Water Barrier. Essentially this is a road barrier that is seen dotting the city roads in the low-lying areas, and has expandable metal shutters that can be used to prevent or divert the flow of the water. With a couple more refinements, this could become a do-able concept. What do you think? Designer: Nicholas Tay - Related posts: |
Posted: 08 Oct 2013 12:01 AM PDT At the intersection of traditional handicraft and modern design, the TER table and stool look to Japanese joinery to achieve aesthetically puzzling, minimal construction; all without the use of glue, nails, or screws. Each is composed of just nine pieces which are held together with the weight and pressure of the top plate. With the top in place, the design is sturdy and rigid. Remove it and the table and stool are flat pack ready! Designer: Christian Ferrara - Related posts: |
Posted: 08 Oct 2013 12:01 AM PDT Born out of love for illusion, the Bodice Rocker’s sexy shape reminds us of a shapely bust or derrière. The sculptural seat also performs a unique trick! With the slightest touch, it gently rocks back and pauses mid-air… almost as if it’s weightless, defying the pull of gravity. In this position, its true function is revealed as a body-conforming chaise lounge clad in comfy padded leather. Designer: SplinterWorks - Related posts: |
