What an extinguisher should be… Posted: 09 Aug 2013 10:08 AM PDT We generally imagine fire extinguishers as large, bulky, single-use items kept behind safety glass. Though they’re built for emergency situations, they’re ironically not something you’re able to keep very handy. This design by Philip Andersson, however, solves the portability problem with a compact unit that can be held in one hand. Durable, lightweight, & easy to pack, it’s perfect for the car, camping, or keeping handy in the kitchen! Hopefully you don’t need it more than once… but if you do, it’s refillable! Posted: 09 Aug 2013 03:41 AM PDT With the current GMO outcry, it is important that we ensure that what we are eating is nutritious and not the opposite. Nurtima is a kitchen scale that calculates the nutritional values, possible toxins and freshness of your food and ingredients. The scale combines piezoelectricity with smart and flexible technologies, and is charged by bending repeatedly. This action creates enough electric charge for the scale to operate for the duration required.

Posted: 09 Aug 2013 03:06 AM PDT BatheXercise is a fun way to de-stress and stay fit at the same time. What these cute guys (kawaii!) are doing is using the BatheXercise equipments to move their muscles and build in that stretch. Hectic schedules and lack of motivation are the top reasons why people skip their exercises. Hopefully with a simple ten-minute routine after a relaxing shower (or before), should do the trick. An Architectural Makeover Down Under Posted: 09 Aug 2013 12:01 AM PDT This winning bid for the redevelopment of Melbourne’s historic Flinders Street Station transforms the landmark into a modern 21st century transport hub while retaining its best known heritage features & buildings to reflect the spirit of the original design. The new social hub on the banks of the Yarra River will include a public plaza, amphitheater, marketplace, & permanent home for arts & cultural festivals, as well as a public art gallery that pays tribute to the indigenous life & culture to whom the area was significant. The weatherproof, articulated filigree vaulted roof-scape is a respectful yet dynamic interpretation and contextual response to the history, function and location of this very special place in the heart of Melbourne. Posted: 09 Aug 2013 12:01 AM PDT Inspired by paper origami, the Folded lighting series by Ariel Zuckerman folds, stretches, and twists wooden veneer sheets to create impossible-looking three dimensional shapes. The acrylic veneer makes the most of the material’s flexibility and proves to be a visual peculiarity with its wooden texture. In chandelier, table, floor and wall lamp variations, there’s a simultaneously geometric and organic option for any area of the home. Designer: Ariel Zuckerman - Related posts: |
