The Flux Table

Posted: 05 Aug 2013 09:07 AM PDT

The intricate geometry of the Flux table is derived from “Toranj,” a mathematical pattern used in Iranian architecture that generally appears as a radial effect in a rhomboid contour. The resulting structure is a three dimensional extension of the pattern, with legs that appear to drip from the convergence points of the base pattern. Though its inspiration is rooted in tradition, the form and color palette are ultramodern and even a tiny bit gothic.

Drinkable Sea Water

Posted: 05 Aug 2013 06:58 AM PDT

Before you scream 'absurd', let me tell you that I am talking about Puri – a sea water desalinating bottle. There are several ways to remove saline from sea water, for example evaporation, vapor-pressure, and ion-exchange membrane method but all of them are not practical for use on a life raft or rescue boat and require big equipments. The Puri on the other hand is a slim portable bottle that works with a pumping action. Take a look at its video below.

Puri is a 2013 IDEA Design Awards entry.

Flex Lighting

Posted: 05 Aug 2013 12:01 AM PDT

The Fluida lamp earns its namesake from the flexible, fluid form of the bendable LED strip at its center. The two magnetic bases at each end can be set in a variety of positions to vary the direction and projected size of the light depending on the user’s need. Compact and customizable, this versatile concept is ideal for small workspaces!

Simple Made Better

Posted: 05 Aug 2013 12:01 AM PDT

If this chair looks familiar, it’s because it’s seemingly similar to the iconic Eames DCM chair that’s been a staple since 1946. Called the NoCo2 chair, it too will cradle you in a comfortable position, and also uses rubber shock mounts to buffer movement. Instead of new rubber, however, it repurposes old scrap tires to cushion both the back and seat. Unlike the Eames, extra tensioned padding is given to the seat for a “floating” effect, more comfort, and a cool modern aesthetic!
