Posted: 28 Jun 2013 09:28 AM PDT No matter which way you slice it, scanning paper documents into digital files is a pain in the butt! To help us transition to a paperless world, the INBOX combination scanner, storage box and app-based interface provide a simple way to manage documents. Smaller (and way better looking) than your average scanner, the user simply places their photos or papers through the feed and the digital file is automatically and wirelessly transferred to your device! Big Bulges Are Out, Try The Capsule Minimalist Wallet Posted: 28 Jun 2013 06:00 AM PDT The Minimalist slim leather wallet came to my attention through a successful Kickstarter campaign funded in 2012. Fast-forward to the present and all you people with unsightly pocket bulges need to get on the bandwagon and slim down. It may not be for everyone but if you think about it, all you need is your ID, maybe some cash, and one or two frequently used cards. I’ve been living with mine for a few months and don’t miss my traditional wallet at all. If you’ve read any of my articles in the past regarding slim wallets, you know I’ve been hunting for a good one. I generally use my “man-bag” to hold everything. No it’s not a purse. It’s a MAN-BAG! Don’t get it twisted. I’m metro like that, but I digress. There are occasions where carrying a lighter load makes life a whole lot easier and if I were any kind of editor, I’d concede most of my readers don’t have man-bags. I’ve tried other ultra-slim wallets and the good ones all carry similar “dna”. A clip to hold money, a slot to hold cards, and handcrafted quality using real leather. What sets The Minimalist apart is the price. At $50 it is far more affordable than competitor products. Sure, there are cheaper options but they’re generally made of plastic or simulated leather. Build quality is usually lacking and the the metal clips weaken over time. After two months of use, The nappa leather has only barely stretched out, just enough to make it easier to pull cards out. The money clip is as “clippy” when new and despite its graspy nature – is still easy to manage cash. Like it? Let me know. Capsule is offering black, blue, brown, and grey versions. - Related posts:

New Meaning To Face Recognition Posted: 28 Jun 2013 05:24 AM PDT The convinece of face recognition is evident in photography and social sites where people are automatically tagged. Extending this concept to telephones, the Elderly E Phone uses image recognition rather than a keypad for the entering of phone numbers. It is aimed at the silver generation, who have a hard time dialing or remembering numbers. The designers explain, "Elderly e Phone concept uses simple image recognition for the making of calls. First, the phone must be pre-set with the numbers that correspond to particular facial photographs of one's contacts. When a call is to be made to one of these people, the user simply needs to hold the phone's image finder above the photograph and press 'OK'. The phone will recall the appropriate number and the call will be placed directly." Elderly E Phone is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winning entry. Posted: 28 Jun 2013 12:02 AM PDT The Surf Car was designed for dudes and dudettes who love to hit the waves! The open-wheel E-SUV tackles both the sand and water with transforming “paddle” wheels that give it unmatched maneuverability on seaside terrain. Its roof doubles as a rack to store surfboards as well as a place to kick back, relax and catch some rays. While it’s designed for the beach, a street version would make an awesome looking SUV for the road! Designer: Yang Min-seok - Related posts: |
