Posted: 08 May 2013 05:52 AM PDT Inspired by the moon, the Lunaround watch features the "luna" or moon shaped hour hand that rotates one complete cycle every 12 hours. Measuring a comfortable 40 mm in diameter, the watch also hosts a red minutes and second hands. It is kinda fascinating to observe how within the center of the moon (hour hand), the hour digits can be seen moving. Awesome 'moon' sighting on the wrist! The Lunaround Watch is gray and black and accented with red hands, ideal for both day or evening wear. Designer: Alex Garzon [ Buy it Here ] - Related posts:

Posted: 08 May 2013 01:11 AM PDT Miners are under great risk when they undertake a procedure called bolting; a way of preventing rocks falling or ceiling collapse. The usual way is to use bolting rigs (bolting machines) that drill and screw in 3-meter long bolts in the mine tunnel. However while doing this, the miners also get exposed to unbolted (not reinforced) ceilings while executing manual tasks. The Boltec .04 is a bolting rig that adds an extra protection. The vehicle works as a second helmet by letting the user accomplish all manual tasks that the bolting procedure requires protected by the rig and its steel cage construction. Theoretically, the miner will not have to be exposed to an un-reinforced mine ceiling ever again. The flexible bolting arm folds down on the vehicle reducing the size by half compared to existing bolting machines, improving both flexibility in transport and reducing risks of collision while tramming to the site. Posted: 08 May 2013 01:11 AM PDT Love the Bullion Wall Clock for its innovative use of metal and laser, just to tell the time. Three steel medallions are artfully stacked upon each other and are wall mounted using a magnetic mechanism. The topmost medallion is stationary and houses a circular array of laser pointers to demarcate the hours on the wall surface. The middle and bottom medallions both rotate, and each houses a laser pointer that indicates the minute and hour hands respectively. A gentle inward tapering on the side faces angle the lasers towards the wall surface. Once mounted the unit can be turned on and off with a gentle press on the face. Bullion Wall Clock is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner. Designer: Eric Wang - Related posts: |
Posted: 08 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT The Tina chair and bench merge age-old rattan craftsmanship with modern production methods in a design that is both innovative and traditional. In designer Benedetta Tagliabue’s own words, “they’re built with the painstaking care and attention to detail of artisanal methods coupled with the precision and quality that comes with technology.” At once minimal and natural, they’re complimentary to modern and classic interiors alike. Posted: 08 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT Hakan Gürsu’s Living Pots are a series of thoughtfully produced planters for the urban gardener who’s conscious of their carbon footprint. Composed of 100% recyclable and reused wood and metal, they make use of lumber scraps that would otherwise be thrown out or burned after truncation. With a minimal number of parts, each unit is flat-pack ready and easy to assemble. Better yet, they can be nested to create vertical gardens where space is limited.
