Skeleton Inspired Furniture Series Posted: 25 Jun 2012 09:21 AM PDT The Spaceframe furniture series is based on the natural form of a vertebrate- a central “backbone” element defines the overall shape of the chair and branches out into a set of “ribs” that form the seat. Composed of CNC machine-cut plywood, the components are planar until combined, without screws or adhesive, into the final 3D cross-bracing structure. Designer: Gustav Düsing - Related posts:

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 05:38 AM PDT The idea of the CUBIE car stems from the fact that people waste a lot of time en route to their work place, stuck in traffic jams. Capitalizing on the future system of shared transportation, the vehicle cabin offers an environment that is conducive to multi tasking. The interior design facilitates in-car activities like holding a meeting or getting work done using the laptop. Like Qi describes it, "CUBIE performs as a low-paced moving public or private space in the street. It creates a new on-road lifestyle, helping people get out of the busy time of a day." Posted: 25 Jun 2012 05:09 AM PDT I love the convenience of a disposable cup, but sometimes you get handed a very shoddy one that tipples over at the slightest breeze. In fact recently at this out door restaurant, they served us our dinks in paper cups and just as I was half way through, the glass blew out with the wind, spilling the drink on the table. If it had the weighted option of the Cup Ring, then I guess no wind or accidental touch would dare to tip it over. So in way, though its not rocket science, Cup Ring is a practical solution to a very plausible problem. Designer: Alexey Chugunnikov - No related posts. |
3D Content Creation in a Slim Package Posted: 25 Jun 2012 02:16 AM PDT ETOS represents a new approach to professional content creation, in particular 3D content. A tool for designers and architects that blends the familiarity of the pen, the intuitiveness of touch gestures, and the power of a professional workstation all wrapped in a convenient tablet-like form factor. The pen-like tool features primary editing functions represented by its four sides along the horizontal and vertical axis. To access a certain editing function the user simply turns the interaction tool. Secondary functions are accessed by touching the touch sensitive frame on the drawing board. Quick access to functions can be initiated with 3-4 finger gestures. The drawing board features a foldable cover that serves as a stand with varied pitch adjustments. The integrated screen delivers stereoscopical 3D Images without 3D glasses thanks to lenticular lens technology in combination with motion tracking. This enables the user to interact with virtual 3D objects using gestures. Designer: Daniel Kussmaul

What Laundry Day Looks Like in 2050 Posted: 25 Jun 2012 12:01 AM PDT The Orbit washes clothes without soap or water, blasting sublimated dry ice at high pressure into dirty clothes, removing dirt, grease and other particles from the clothing. Liquid nitrogen superconductor levitates the drum in the center of the base without friction, eliminating noise and making the machine self-sufficient. It may be far out, but it’s waaaaaaay cool! Posted: 25 Jun 2012 12:01 AM PDT Tend is a project that focuses on Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), a disorder common in children with autism, Asperger’s, and other syndromes. Those suffering from the disorder find it difficult to transition between environments, such as going from a quiet car ride to a noisy restaurant. This solution maintains the volume between environments making the transition easier. Styled like modern headphones, the device also has a sporty look and feel that the user will feel comfortable wearing in public. Designer: Mitch Soper - Related posts: |
