Posted: 10 Jan 2012 01:50 AM PST Almost all of our workouts are based on approximation. For example a 125-lb person burns approx. 360 calories per hour if they do a vigorous dumbbell workout session. To remove the veil of doubt and talk about hard facts and figures, we have here the C-Ring Dumbbells. The weights sync with your smartphone or PC via USB and tell you exactly how many calories you burnt during your session. Color-coded lighting system displays how intense your workout is and if you need to step it up by a notch. The best part is that you can increase the intensity by attaching more of the magnetic weight-discs to the dumbbell. The perfect marriage of brain and brawn! Designer: Wang Zihao ---------- |
Posted: 10 Jan 2012 01:24 AM PST You have to agree that our mobile phones have become an emotional extension of who we are. Right from the screensaver to the mood message to apps (like Siri), details like these give several insights to a person's individuality. Concepts like the Empathy and now the Heartbeat Mobile Phone, all go to show how the future foresees us building an intimate relationship with our device. Healthy or not, this kinda intuitive interactive-ness is here to stay! Designer: Sang-hoon Lee ---------- |
Posted: 10 Jan 2012 12:05 AM PST Inspired by similar creative methodologies, designer Duncan McKean’s Iterations cards are geared specifically towards product designers. Each card has an input as well as a set of ambiguous instructions that will get your creative juices flowing. Experiencing “designer’s block?” simply start with your concept sketch, draw a card, and add to your concept based around your interpretation of what the card says. Go-Anywhere Drinking Water Condenser Posted: 10 Jan 2012 12:03 AM PST NJORD (named after the god of the sea by the same name) is a portable water condenser targeted for warmer climates that was designed to condense the moisture in the surrounding atmosphere to create useable drinking water throughout the day. An internal thermostat monitors air temperature and adjusts an internal polar polymer to create the needed conditions for condensation to occur inside the bottle. Simply turn on the device and in two hours you’ll have a liter of water (in 50% humidity). Genius! Designer: Reymin De Leon ---------- |
Posted: 10 Jan 2012 12:02 AM PST So it might be just a little paranoid, but the Riot Table is definitely one uniquely versatile piece (and quite attractive!). A response to recent rioting around the world, the table features a welded steel pipe frame and removable top that doubles as a shield! You never know! Designer: Max & Max ---------- |
