Posted: 17 Jun 2014 08:12 AM PDT Cats and pet fish have been inextricably linked for ages, usually with the fur balls coming out on top. Until now! This clever companion house celebrates this storied relationship, finally putting the cat in the belly of the fish! It not only makes for a comfy resting space for kitty, but is open-aired and sun-filled to prevent separation anxiety. Designer: Sang Nam-Park - Related posts: |
Posted: 17 Jun 2014 03:33 AM PDT We are the entitled generation – entitled to benefits whether we have worked for it or not! To conform to this cushy lifestyle a state of the art servant for cleaning chores at home is more of a necessity than a luxury. The TODY features four arms that follows voice commands and cleans floors as well as fabrics. Think curtains, bed sheets etc. Using its 4 arms, it can climb, move and hang to reach areas like seats, curtains, windows and more. TODY is a part of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Competition. Posted: 17 Jun 2014 03:20 AM PDT The Easy Find is medical equipment that will work very well in emergency situation like disasters. Typically IV Fluids are transparent and keeping an eye on them is a persistent task. When the ER is flooded with patients, things may get chaotic and thus this reusable glass infusion bottle with a specially designed dropper lights up when the drip-solution runs out. The glow is a clear indication that some action is required.

Posted: 17 Jun 2014 12:01 AM PDT Can’t sleep because of all the noise? No prob! Ipno allows you to find sleep even in the most disruptive of environments. This personal-size speaker broadcasts white noise: a sound that includes all frequencies and has hypnotic qualities that allow the brain to disconnect external noise while soothing the heart rate and clearing the mind. Good things when you’re trying to catch ZZZs! Simultaneously, microphones in the back capture surrounding noise which is then transmitted to a Digital Signal Processor to cancel out the external noise. Posted: 17 Jun 2014 12:01 AM PDT Nuture is a concept that replaces the core and support layers of traditional infant mattresses with a strap system that allows for a bespoke design to be created for every child. The aluminum frame provides rigidity with adjustable tension straps that allow the profile to be altered. This means parents can tailor the mattress contours to their baby to help prevent flat head syndrome, limit acid reflux and more. It’s also extendable to adapt to a range of infant beds & grows as the child does, all the way until they transition to a regular bed! Designer: Iain Mortimer

A’ Design Awards & Competition – Early Call for Entries Posted: 16 Jun 2014 11:50 AM PDT There is a common thread that binds both newcomers and experienced designers – they both look up to their peers and the industry for acknowledgment. One of the platforms that amplifies the process is the A’ Design Awards & Competition. It offers a good base to highlight, advertise & advocate good design, designers and design oriented companies and garner the attention of press, interactive medias, design critics, distributers and buyers to the award winner. In many ways the A’ Design Award differentiates from any other design competition, design contest and prize. It is collaborative and innovative medium to scientifically and thoughtfully qualify a project as Good Design. There are several categories (100!) in the competition and the most relative ones for you are: Furniture, Architecture, Vehicle, Bathroom Furniture, Product Design, Industrial Design, Packaging, Toys etc. Check out the full list here. In a broader spectrum of things, you can even classify the awards as: Good Industrial Design Award, Good Architecture Design Award, Good Product Design Award, Good Communication Design Award, Good Service Design Award, Good Fashion Design Award. Ten benefits of participating:
An international jury panel of scholars, professionals and media members will judge the entries for the A' Design Awards & Competition. Know your jury here and browse through past winners here. Registrations are currently open and the deadline for early submission is June 30, so head here to register. Selected winners and results will be posted on YD on April 15, 2015. - Related posts:
