Posted: 07 Oct 2013 08:47 AM PDT I am going through the painful process of redecorating my home office. Caught on a tight budget, being picky on the design sensibilities and opting for some sense of eco-consciousness is not helping my case at all. Just when I was about to give up on finding any 'fashion forward' thinking styles for shelves, tables and cupboards, I stumbled upon the magic of Yube Modular Furniture. The focus being modularity, sustainability and customization, Yube is ideal for me and those who care about style and functionality. The Award-winning Yube modules are 13-inch cubes crafted exclusively from recyclable and biodegradable materials. The modules are constructed from reconstituted sugar cane waste fibers. The frames are made of 'Woodlite', a moldable thermoplastic mixed with fiber made from bamboo and timber waste material. This aligns with the current trend of eco-consciousness. The good thing about assembling the cubes is that they snap together easily and lock rigidly when the back panel is slid into place. To give it your own signature style, you can play with the range of funky accessories – doors, feet, shelves and drawers; kinda like 'LEGO for adults!' I love the fact that you can create tables, desks, bookcases, shelves, room-dividers and many more layouts by just using a few of these simple modules. The basic Yube unit is a 13 inch cube that can be integrated with other Yube cubes and accessories – doors, feet, shelves, storage drawers and the likes.
Yube co-founders Chairman Errol Drew and President Jeff Greenstein have done a commendable job of providing us stylish yet affordable modular furniture. Going a step further to make Yube fit your budget and style, I've convinced the team to give a special 10% off to YD Readers! Posted: 07 Oct 2013 02:22 AM PDT The Edge is a very cute looking, practical food strainer that ensures there are no drips while straining the food. A partial net blocking the end of the strainer contains the water within, so that it doesn't spill onto the tabletop or on you. Essentially when you drain out the water, it gradually flows out without causing a mess. An interesting innovation that I would like to use! Designers: Tae-jin Kim and IIDEA Design - Related posts: |
Posted: 07 Oct 2013 01:11 AM PDT Simply love the Mirror 2.0, which uses voice command, face and gesture recognition technology! Two LCD displays are placed behind a one-way mirror with a camera for face recognition, sensors for motion control and a microphone for voice control. To keep you entertained the mirror plays your music or movies, displaying your e-book or streaming the news. If that is not enough, it even communicates reminders or gives you updates on the weather; it can moderate the room temperature and dim the lights. Mirror 2.0 is Reece 2013 Bathroom Innovation Award entry. Designer: Robert Grynkofki - Related posts:

The dock is dead. Wireless is in. Posted: 07 Oct 2013 12:01 AM PDT This strange little chunk of plastic doesn’t resemble what we think of as an audio speaker at all, but its unusual design isn’t all about aesthetics. The modular system was actually designed to be used in fours- connecting to each other and your devices wirelessly via Bluetooth. Volume can be controlled with your device, but to pack a serious audible punch, just add more Omni! Designer: Algi R Pangestu - Related posts: |
Posted: 07 Oct 2013 12:01 AM PDT The EasyPill system utilizes modern technology to give elderly individuals the sense of independence they desire while also giving their loved ones & doctors peace of mind. The app-based system works hand-in-hand with an electronic pill case. When it’s time to take a specific med, that portion of the case lights up. In the event that a dose is missed, the system alerts the elderly’s family & doctors so they can take action. Doctors can remotely program & monitor the system from one simple application.
