It features an electronic lock system with a hands-free sensor to automatically open & close when the user approaches. To keep the contents hidden, a dual-hinged cover keeps unsightly, smelly items contained for the user’s comfort. Made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene thermoplastic (the same stuff as Legos), the bin has the strength & rigidity of plastic as well as the toughness of rubber. | Posted: 02 Jul 2013 05:19 AM PDT I love the way designer Dae-hoo Kim has taken away the focus from the form and driven it to the process of vapor creation in this Volcano Humidifier. No doubt the design is classy, but the whole idea of a volcano shaped humidifier emitting doughnut-shaped condensed vapor is a lot more appealing. Take a look at the video to see how it's done. | Posted: 02 Jul 2013 04:21 AM PDT Its been a while since an awe-inspiring concept phone crossed our path, so humor me if you will, and have a peek at what the Nokia Lumia 1080 Concept Phone has to offer. The phone is inspired by the 5-inch plastic OLED display that features Full HD Resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Future-proof, the concept believes in wearable technology hence the use of a flexible display. Expect to find navigation buttons, control buttons and ports from outside similar to current Lumia devices. Proposed specs include .8 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, storage options of 32GB/ 64 GB, support for 2G/ 3G/ 4G LTE network, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC for connectivity. | Posted: 02 Jul 2013 12:01 AM PDT Steam-O is a modern cruiser that takes inspiration from the iconic steam locomotives of the past, applying the signature aerodynamic shape to its stark frame. In classic 1930s style, the bike sports a leather seat with spring suspension, an oversized headlight with chrome and bronze polish, and choo-choo style rims. The main feature, however, is a pushrod drivetrain like that of locomotives from the time. This unique power system and distinct attention to detail set it apart from other cruisers new and old. Pedaling torque is transmitted by bearing on shaft and coupling rods. Coupling rods move in a vertical motion as well as horizontally as the crank-arm rotates. The same shaft at the rear wheel receives the torque ration 1:1. To gain a useful travel speed it needs a small gearbox (about 1:6 ratio depending on the crank arm length and rear wheel size). | Posted: 02 Jul 2013 12:01 AM PDT One problem with conventional hearing aids is their tendency to cause infection and ear drum damage from moisture, as well as feedback if not properly placed in the ear. To alleviate these issues, this updated hearing aid design features directional speakers that leave the canal exposed so the ear can “breathe.” Because it’s directional, sound doesn’t return to the microphone and cause feedback.
