Posted: 10 Jul 2013 09:03 AM PDT While using an iPad to read an article, designer Chi-Tai Hsu started to notice finger pain and discomfort from the constant scrolling as well as eye fatigue from having to carefully stare at the text line while repositioning the paragraph to read more. Chi’s response to this problem is the “Reading Serenely” eReader with eInk display. Like reading a bound book, the design attempts to mimic the way in which we naturally flip from page to page with finger swipes happening less frequently. Designer: Chi-Tai Hsu - Related posts: |
Posted: 10 Jul 2013 04:52 AM PDT I like to think of Coway as underdogs from the Far East. They have some of the most amazing consumer products that are top-notch in Industrial Design. Works like the A1(CHP-241N), CAIRS & ICE+WATER are very Rams' styled; minimal and bespoke. With many accolades and awards under their belt, here is a look at some recent products that ring a bell. CAIRS is a personal air purifier that can be used anywhere on the go. Think of your car, at home or at the office; this little device purifies dust and odor in the air and sterilizes bacteria, viruses, etc. Pretty much tries to remove the excuse of 'not feeling well' out of your life! The iconic hole is a key design feature which functions as a handle improving portability and extending usability. Optimal air purification is possible thanks to the Plasma Ion sterilization technology that it uses. This removes 99.5% of air-borne viruses. Ice+Water has been designed to be installed in kitchens and to provide clean drinking water and pure ice. With just a single touch you can extract both hot and cold water and even pure ice without delay. Its 5-step filtration system removes 99.95% infusible fine particles, rust residue, chlorine, heavy metals and other pollutants from tap water and dispenses clean water and pure ice made with purified water. A1(CHP-241N) by Jin-gyu Seo & Murata Chiyaki The CHP-240N is a water purifier that converts tap water into perfect drinking water using a filtering process. Its defining factor is the completely changed internal specifications that make it more functional. It can be used to fill standard sized cups with water as well as big pots. You need not wait and watch the container fill with water because you can select a preset amount of water extraction. - Related posts: |
Posted: 10 Jul 2013 04:18 AM PDT An emergency situation calls for calm and collected nerves along with timely response. In the case of an unconscious victim, many people are truly clueless as to how they can help the person. For such situations we have here the First Aid Cover. This textile blanket with printed information graphics clearly shows you how to proceed with first aid. Basics like recovery position to CPR steps are printed. Both professionals and untrained people can use this cover at the time of need. Designer: Jussi Koskimäki - No related posts. |
Luxury Atmosphere in the Stratosphere Posted: 10 Jul 2013 12:01 AM PDT With the brand’s deep roots stemming from aircraft design, who better to design Singapore Airlines’ First Class interior than the BMW Group Designworks USA?! To bring a premium experience to the airline, the designers have endowed the cabin with a new look along with an extra helping of comfort, space and privacy. The updated design for the seats and suites will make its debut this September on board the new Boeing 777-300ER on selected flights between Singapore and London. One of the top echelons of the design sector came up with a keen challenge for DesignworksUSA: to reconcile the aviation brief and its stringent safety standards with the luxury requirements of passengers. Tapping into the creativity of the BMW Group subsidiary, Singapore Airlines aimed to further enhance its First Class facilities and set new benchmarks for luxury-class comfort in the skies. The entire ambience has been redesigned to offer passengers not only raised luxury levels but also greater privacy and increased stowage space for luggage and travel accoutrements From the moment they board the aircraft, First Class passengers are pampered in their lounge-like islands. In order to shield these havens of peace visually and acoustically, the outer walls of the seating area have been extended and embrace the passenger like a protective arm. For sleeping, the luxury seat turns into a large bed comfortable enough for reclining on one's side. At 35 inches in width and with an increased bed length from 80 to 82 inches, the seat is one of the most spacious First Class products in the sky. Both the design language and the colour and material concept signal maximum levels of comfort, taking their cue from automotive interior design when it comes to passenger comfort, spatial configuration and functionality. The design team has imbued these onboard spaces with an aura of tranquillity. Large surfaces and elegantly sweeping lines coupled with warm, modern shades of brown within the seating islands all evoke the ambience of a living room. Cooler grey and metallic tones on the outside, meanwhile, clearly demarcate the private zone from its surroundings – a colour concept that continues into the carpeting to accentuate the impression of a personal cocoon. Only high-grade materials are permitted to fly First Class. The seat is lined with fine leather, while a new covering technique for the upholstery increases tension in the material, which remains smooth and – even after hours of use – appears pristine. Atmospheric lighting has been discreetly assimilated into the design. Extensive tests were carried out to determine the optimal light colour and intensity. A range of personal storage cubbies in the front entertainment area add surprising touches with their striking interior colours. Elegant tables are integrated into the front of the seating area; they can be extended simply and quietly without the need for any folding mechanism. Posted: 10 Jul 2013 12:01 AM PDT Move around the Eye+ window and you’ll soon forget that it’s not a window at all! The clever screen doesn’t just display favorite outdoor landscapes, but also uses a camera and sensor system that detect the viewer’s motion to shift the image depending on their perspective. Move to the right to see what’s hidden behind the left border or move closer to enlarge the image and vice versa! See it in action —> Designer: EyePlus - Related posts: |
