+4.5 Paper Cup by Hongseok Kim and Inhye Hwang Posted: 06 May 2013 01:11 AM PDT Yes, this is the exact name of this disposable cup and don't ask me why! All I can tell you is that the cup handle has a stiff tear-able portion that you can use as a stirrer. Cost effective and functional, I simply LOVE this design! p.s. a little birdie told me that the additional handle attachment measures 4.5 cms, hence the name! +4.5 Paper Cup is a 2013 iF Design award – concept design entry. Posted: 06 May 2013 01:01 AM PDT The Angel Faucet is specifically meant for those folks who have lost an arm. Apparently stats show that folks with this kind of impairment find it difficult towash their hand properly. The sensor-activated tap is integrated with a scrubbing pad that allows you to scrub and clean the single hand effectively. The pad is made with soft silicon, and can be removed for cleaning. The flow of water through the tap stops when the user moves their hand away from the faucet outlet to the scrubbing pad. Angel is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner. Posted: 06 May 2013 12:05 AM PDT The 2R armchair, which takes name from the bold side pillars, is composed of just two materials: lenga wood and salmon skin upholstery, both native of Chile. This luxurious combination of materials creates a sophisticated and elegant expression against an otherwise minimal frame. Though somewhat fragile looking, the handcrafted process of traditional jointing and precision material bonds make it functionally very strong, stable, and comfortable. Posted: 06 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT That phrase has less relevancy with the advent of digital design tools, but this creative workstation merges the physical scale of the classic designer’s board with the functionality of a tablet into one unit that classic sketchers and digital designers alike will appreciate. Called Voltra, it hearkens back to a time when pencil and paper were solely available, but instead… it’s a stylus and touch screen! Designer: Jameel Kamil - Related posts: |
Posted: 03 May 2013 12:01 AM PDT The EV X-O concept is a family-focused vehicle inspired by the group road trips we all experienced as kids. The exoskeleton of the car offers a near-seamless panoramic view for passengers so they can fully take in the surroundings. The cockpit is even divided into two sections to keep bickering kids apart! The center of this 100% electric vehicle has two hulls that not only offer the rigidity and support needed for safety, but also accommodate the energy cells that power the vehicle. While the front wheels are propelling the vehicle, the rear wheels are recharging the cells through friction. Even though a direct 1-to-1 discharge to recharge is next to impossible, the Recharge is approximately 15%, giving more efficiency to the overall distance traveled. A light and airy exoskeletal aesthetic offers a different approach to the passenger experience. It has an artistic influence based on minimalism that is expressed even down to the seams of the exterior. Though you may not be able to see the overall body lines of the car, they are still there. This airiness also flows into the wheels, where there is plenty of negative space. The design was inspired by spoked bicycle wheels where lightness is key. Another feature of the vehicle is its drive train, where a linear motor system is utilized. The front wheels have a series of linear motors that force discs on the wheel forward or backwards depending on the magnetic pull of the motors. Designer: Jeremy Helle - Related posts: |
