Posted: 25 Apr 2013 10:24 AM PDT You have to hand it to Samsung and Apple's forward thinking design team that made it acceptable for us to have phones that are a cross between a tablet and well … a phone! While the new forms give us a gawky looking device, The Bionic Silkworm Inspired Phone takes us back to the basic shape of an ergonomic handset. Designed to make both children and the elderly comfortable with its use, the LED display and infrared sensor technology make it as tech-savvy as it gets. So which will you prefer… a phablet or a phone? Designers: Huang Lu, Chen Haiyan & Xiao W - Related posts: |
Posted: 25 Apr 2013 10:16 AM PDT Love these PVD coated, half cork fames. Designer Marc Tran has done a great job trying to marry very different elements and make them compliment each other. This new asymmetric frame combines contrasting materials and yet maintains their individual identity. Pretty cool if you ask me! Designer: Marc Tran - Related posts: |
Posted: 25 Apr 2013 08:34 AM PDT Designing truly comfortable seating without upholstery is more challenging than it may seem, especially without using molded wood. Designers Alessandro Torricelli & Ralph Voigt found a simple & efficient solution by dividing the Curytiba chair’s seat & backrest into two sections. Each side was carefully bowed to the center until the pressure zones of the tailbone & back were relieved. It’s rigid, yet thoughtfully formed to the human anatomy for maximum comfy-ness. Not to mention, it’s really easy on the eyes. Designers: Alessandro Toricelli & Ralph Voigt - Related posts:

Posted: 25 Apr 2013 12:01 AM PDT A few years ago, space tourism was utterly science fiction. But with private operations already underway and queues of wealthy travelers lining up, this ultimate thrill-seeker’s adventure has become a reality. The XLDron M Gravity concept sheds light on what we might expect from our future spacecraft. The dual vehicle design consists of a shuttle and “rocket-plane” that work in tandem to carry 4 crew and 10 tourists beyond the reaches of our atmosphere before gliding home. Designed for public spaces like parks or campuses, the WorkaWay workstation serves as an office away from your office!
