Posted: 19 Dec 2012 09:55 AM PST The Water Lock is an automatic water meter and a locking device for use on bathtub taps. What you need to do is simply set the desired volume of water for the bath and let the bathtub fill up unmonitored. You generally know how much water you would like to fill in for your bath, so after the set amount has been filled, the flow automatically stops. So you end up avoiding overspill, wastages and have the freedom to do other stuff while you run up your bath water. Water Lock simultaneously records and displays the water volume. When the water is flowing, it is 'on'. When the flow is terminated, Water Lock is 'off'. It uses the principle of a combination padlock for its operation and doesn't require electricity. Water Lock is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner. Reclaimed Wood For A Better Watch Posted: 19 Dec 2012 08:30 AM PST "The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now." I love this tagline and the simple truth behind it. Essentially this is a direct lift from WeWOOD Watches and they are compelling me to think about what I can do for my planet, even if it's through Product Design. Sure, haute horology is something everyone craves, but how many can truly say that what they are wearing is something that reminds us of a tree's powerful way of life; rooted, yet reaching. WeWOOD Watches follow the mantra of “You Buy a Watch, We Plant a Tree”. Crafted from 100% natural wood, which is not treated with chemicals; the makers use recycled and reclaimed woods so that no trees are hurt in the process. Yes, they plant a tree for every watch sold! WeWOOD Timepiece is as natural as your wrist. It respects your skin as you respect nature by choosing it. One Watch – One Tree – One Planet. WeWOOD Watches are available online. Posted: 19 Dec 2012 12:03 AM PST Using his own original origami folding compositions, designer Jiangmei Wu’s latest creation is this series of light fixtures made from recycled cotton paper and LED light bulbs. Each shade can be compressed into a flat piece (for easy shipping or storage), but once folded they are entirely self-supportive. Organic in construction and material, it’s a beautiful collection that is at once simple and intricate. Designer: Jiangmei Wu - Related posts: |
Posted: 19 Dec 2012 12:02 AM PST Sure, the iPhone is capable of playing full-length movies… but what’s the point? Mr. Perfect isn’t so perfect when it comes to the right ergonomics for watching your favorite flicks. That’s where the iPhone Theater comes in. It’s a headphone/phone holder combo with a slightly steampunk aesthetic. I chuckled a little too… but it’s actually pretty awesome! I don’t care how many looks I get… I waaaaants it! Posted: 19 Dec 2012 12:01 AM PST The latest addition to Hall Design’s bespoke line of luminaires, the Mise En Abyme lamp series represents the archetype of the incandescent lightbulb, paying homage to the classic object that is quickly being phased out. The wooden, bulb shaped covering is suspended by wire from a wall-mount and is easily adjustable to the user’s height preference. It’s a clever foreshadowing of the fate of the incandescent bulb, and will serve as a reminder years after they’re gone! Designer: Hall Design - Related posts: |
