Posted: 16 Aug 2012 09:57 AM PDT The Mola bench by Andrija Večenaj was inspired by his experience growing up in the seaport city of Rijeka, Croatia, where he would spend time watching the saves, docking ships and multitude of personalities pass through. The shape is an abstract representation of waves and boat hulls, exaggerated by planked wood that references the deck of the ships. A hollow concrete base supports the adjustable surfaces and gives the structure a catamaran-like aesthetic that compliments the nautical feel. Designer: Andrija Večenaj - Related posts: |
Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:11 AM PDT I love this simple and innovative solution to a sustainable carry bag. The H+Bag has a functional edge and combines a carry bag with a hanger. Most often stores give us beautiful, sustainable paper bags to carry our clothes back home. Now if we add a twist to the bag and fashion it as a hanger, wouldn't that be a great eco-idea! Say, hello to the H+Bag! H+BAG is a 2012 iF Design Talents Entry. Designer: Hyo Jun Jeon - Related posts: |
Entering the Genre of Pocket Tablets Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:01 AM PDT While most of us are still discovering the value of tablets versus laptops, the next-gen is already thinking about blurring the lines between smartphones and tablets. What we have here is the Pocket Tablet Concept, which is a happy marriage between a smartphone and, you guessed it, a tablet. The device combines emerging technology like the flexible OLED screen that folds out to give it the tablet edge. And of course the pocket size is the other advantage that can be harped upon. Posted: 16 Aug 2012 12:58 AM PDT We’ve had a couple quakes here recently and they only serve as a reminder of how unprepared I am for the BIG ONE. A Kickstarter project called the TRIOH! caught my interest when I went looking for a flashlight that could sit out in the open and not look fugly. Nice design? Check. Functions as a flashlight? Check. Works as a lamp and emergency light? Check & check! Designer Greg Hinzmann is several thousand shy of hitting his goal so I’m gonna plug it here because I WANT THIS. $49 bucks so I can have piece of mind and you get a TRIOH! Posted: 16 Aug 2012 12:01 AM PDT The original idea for the Quick Click weights came from the designer’s wife noticing that in her weight training classes, other women were struggling with the old-school way of changing weights with clamps and springs which interrupted the flow of the workout. This redesign maximizes the effectiveness of the workout, making it possible to quickly transition between weights by simply using the built in hand grips to drop and add weight. Better yet, the entire system of barbell and weights is stackable and takes up way less room than conventional sets, making it perfect for compact spaces. Designer: Vincent H. Posted: 16 Aug 2012 12:01 AM PDT The Acorn by Vasiliy Butenko transforms an ordinary cotton rope into an attractive, simple and inexpensive pendant lamp. The construction process is quick and easy an only requires the rope, a bottle and a bonding agent. The rope is wound around the bottle creating layers that don’t require an internal frame. Bright LEDs provide concentrated light that won’t burn the cotton. In a number of dark colors, it’s both soft and masculine. Designer: Vasiliy Butenko - No related posts. |
