Posted: 17 Apr 2012 02:02 AM PDT Not that airline food is all that great, but I was amused to see the kind of meal selection they offered on an international travel. Some of the diet plans were unheard of! So this brings me to the segment of society who fusses about the organic details of the produce like being genetically modified. I suppose they'd really value a tool like the Elephant Nose, a device that identifies genetically modified organisms (GMOs) such as 'super tomatoes' and genetically modified salmon. Like the designer explains, "Many people are concerned about the health effects associated with the consumption of GMOs. Elephant Nose was designed to identify the state of foods (GMO/natural, fresh/stale, and so on) using artificial nose technology. Information about the food is displayed on the device's LCD panel. Elephant Nose is portable and can thus be used at the grocery store or market, as well as at home." The Elephant Nose is a 2011 red dot design concept winner. Designer: Junhyun Kim - Related posts: |
Analog + Digital = Fusion Phone Posted: 17 Apr 2012 01:41 AM PDT Thus far the analog and digital combo has looked super slick in timepieces, and iida intends to notch it up to the super-sexy category with this Fusion Concept. Playfully coined as "Fusion of elegance and technology. Fusion of analog and digital." The phone is designed by Jaime Hayon and focuses on bringing an emotional connect to the myriad features of current smartphones. I totally dig the colorful rubber trimmings, which offer an anti-slip grip. Designer: Jaime Hayon & iida - Related posts:

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 12:01 AM PDT Designer Sonny Lim can’t say for sure whether or not this is what we can expect the BMW i8 Spyder (set to be unveiled in 2014) to look like, but we’re going to trust that the former Senior Designer at BMW Designworks has a unique perspective. Wink Wink. It’s a bit more “foldy” than you’d expect from the brand, but nonetheless… one very sexy ride. Designer: Sonny Lim - Related posts:

Play Chess With Your Eyes Closed Posted: 17 Apr 2012 12:01 AM PDT Impossible? Not anymore. – This thoughtful design extends the strategic game of chess to users with visual impairments that would otherwise be unable to enjoy the fun, interactive experience. Textured magnets hold the pieces in place and indicate the direction of play. White pieces are composed of matte steel while black pieces are hardwood, making them identifiable by heat and texture. Even the magnet strength has been adjusted so the amount of “stick” will indicate what color square a piece is on. Designer: Duncan McKean - Related posts: |
Posted: 17 Apr 2012 12:01 AM PDT The Almighty Board is the ultimate kitchen assistant. This smart-board will simultaneously serve as your cutting board, display your recipes, provide step-by-step directions and weigh your ingredients out for you. After you wash it, it will even tell you if it has been cleaned enough to avoid cross-contamination or food poisoning. If only it could do the dishes too! Designer: Jaewan Jeong - Related posts: |
