Most Buzzed Designs of February 2012 Posted: 01 Mar 2012 07:13 AM PST I came across this witty quote and wonder how many of you agree, "Art has to move you and design does not, unless it's a good design for a bus." Both Robert Brunner and Scott Wilson made me appreciate the value that good design brings to a product. Iterating that the crux of it always germinates from innovative ideas transforming to sound creations. February saw some really creative ideas come forth, and here is a quick recap of them. 10) Pour-Smart – Kitchen Knife & Scoop by Junjie Piao – 7284 Hits 8 ) DrawBraille Mobile Phone Concept by Shikun Sun – 7826 Hits 7) HTC Autonome Concept Mobile Phone by Francois Rybarczyk – 8006 6) Odorico Pordenone Caravan by Jakub Novák – 8826 Hits 5) Eidetic USB by Lim Jae Min – 9083 Hits 4) MacPad Pro by Jules Moretti – 9202 Hits 3) BlackBerry Concept Phone by John Anastasiadis – 9941 Hits 2) D – Can Camera by Jean-michel Bonnemoy – 13845 Hits 1) Whoop – de – doo Sex Toys for Women by Anna Marešová – 24593 Hits - Related posts: |
Divide and Conquer the Balloon Whisk Posted: 01 Mar 2012 03:58 AM PST Cleaning a whisk can be a challenge, especially if you are working with a sticky mixture or thick dough. Divisible is a clever design that addresses this issue, as well as the storage. The whisk simple splits in half, straightening the curvy wires and facilitating easy cleaning. By far the most hygienic cleaning solution, demonstrated brilliantly in the accompanying video. Divisible is a 2011 red dot design concept winner. Designer: Hansol Kwon - Related posts: |
Posted: 01 Mar 2012 03:39 AM PST Ultrasonic Dryer looks at slashing your electricity bills drastically by regulating energy consumption and methodology. The dryer uses an ultrasonic atomizer system in place of the traditional electric heating system to vaporize residual moisture in clothes. As a result, mist is formed and can be cooled and collected as recycled water. The idea looks good enough to explore and I love the user-friendly design, which brings the machine drum up to the user-height rather than them bending down to load in the clothes. What God’s Office Might Look Like Posted: 01 Mar 2012 12:02 AM PST This collaboration between Zsanett Benedek and Daniel Lakos gives a completely new and fresh feeling to Lakos’ original designs that were finished in a beech veneer. The aim of the designers was to find harmony between large surfaces and lightness, between a mass and a shell. This updated pure white version of the Alba Collection is nothing short of heavenly. Posted: 01 Mar 2012 12:01 AM PST Armada is a phone-sized portable 3D scanner built so that anyone can capture the physical forms of objects on the go. Armada syncs via Bluetooth with your smartphone to create a 3D scan of any object through triangulation between its cameras and cross-beam laser. The process is streamlined so that all the user has to do is hit the start button. After scanning, Armada builds an STP file in real-time on your iOS or Android phone that can be opened and edited in any 3D modeling software. Armada’s cameras are angled to track the position of the cross-beam laser on a surface, providing the three necessary reference points to create a cloud point. During the scanning process thousands of cloud of points are formed and merged into polygons to form a model. Designers: Isaac Blankensmith and Kyle DeHovitz

Visualize Your Carbon Footprint Posted: 01 Mar 2012 12:01 AM PST When it comes to conserving energy at home, one major setback is the lack of products that make it possible to gauge your consumption as you use energy. Octopus is an electric heating system that utilizes thermo-sensitive film that changes color depending on the intensity of the heat output, giving users a visual reminder of their carbon footprint. The film, located at the front part of the heater, can be visually customized to satisfy a variety of styles and tastes. Designer: Clément Martineau - Related posts: |
